When you look at it Irish Boogie my formation looks attack minded but in reality is ultra defensive as Whelan is still gonna sit in front off the 2 c/b's as he has done for what 4 years now?, Walters is going to be isolated from Long for long periods and same goes for McGeady, only exciting thing in there is hopefully with McClean in there he can provide a link between Whelan and the forward players - something Andrews failed to do on a number off occassions as often Whelan got left covering players on his own when Andrews went out of position but McCarthy can assist this and when Whelan did get the ball with Andrews beside him he had no out ball(other than hoof) as often Andrews was out off position or behind Whelan - this time hopefully it will be McClean who will be the out ball and able to hold on to the ball until McCarthy push's up or he is able to provide McGeady/Walters/Long with ball on the deck and thus mean we hold on to the ball a lot more

I think yer on the button there Philly . Again, (presuming that the above formation, or one near it, is correct) have to laugh at those questioning McClean on the left of a 3 man central mid (or left of centre in a 5 man mid) - FFS the only other midfielder in the squad is Green, if Trap is trying this more flexible formation, why not give McClean a go there in the absence of any alternative (not counting Green, I would prefer Davy Forde to get a run out in midfield). If it doesn't work out for him, I think the formation is worth persisting with anyway, with Fahey/Andrews/Gibson replacing McClean in the middle and McClean moving further left , either at the expense of McGeady (unlikely though) or one of the strikers. Having said that, given the goal return of McGeady, Trap will probably persist with one of Long/Cox/Walters in the wide position, unless McClean turns out to be some class of goal machine there. Radio just said Cox in for Long, didn't catch the reason.......................... |

@FAIreland posted on Twitter a few minutes ago:
News just in: After an assessment on his leg this evening, it has
been decided that Simon Cox will start in place of Shane Long.
So the team is as follows: Westwood, McShane, O'Dea, O'Shea, Kelly, Whelan, McCarthy, McGeady, McClean, Walters, Cox

Im on it BSM. He used to play for Red Star but joined Partizan "On 23 October, the long-awaited derby versus Red Star Belgrade took place. Due to unsavoury events leading up to the big match, there were general concerns about the match turning into yet another violent incident and in particular about the goalkeeper's personal safety. Despite immense pressure and tension, Stojković was unwavering about his desire to be in goal for the match. Luckily, the derby passed without a single incident as Partizan recorded a 1–0 away win. As the final whistle blew, Stojković ran to the south stand where Partizan's most loyal fans gathered, lifting his jersey to reveal a t-shirt that read: "Please Forgive my Ugly Past".[31] The move wasn't well received in the general public with local press accusing Stojković of being tacky and needlessly raising the tension by provoking his old club, however Stojković claimed he was only trying to show his feelings and insisted he wasn't being provocative.[32]" Legend |

I thought it was because the fans didn't like the ball going backwards but that makes more sense. Horrible f**kers booing their own like that.
