Beasts of No Nation. Cracking movie on Netflix.

Cool. Will take a look.

Turned on PainKiller a about an hour ago.  Very good so far into 1st episode.  A film about oxycodon, an addictive painkiller. Like heroin.

Dopesick is better but Painkiller is a decent watch if you haven't seen that already.

It’s definitely much better. Although it did come out first, it’ll be interesting to see which you prefer having watched the other way round.

Are these shows as safe, sterile and slickly produced as I presume them to be or is there any edge to them? In my head, in spite of the subject matter, I imagine them to be glossy and procedural in the vein of a Law and Order or something like that. Shame because if these shows were produced in the manner of a Homicide: Life on the Street or The Wire it would suit the subject matter more. Ozark is an example of a show I stuck with for one season but it was just so formulaic, predictable and derivative of other shows [Breaking Bad] and was trying to be edgy in a synthetic way. More shows should be like Oz or The Shield in early episodes and kill off major characters to make things less predictable.

Watching the Charlie Bird documentary on RTE. At one stage himself and Tommie Gorman are watching the Love Ulster Riot footage as they accumulate material for his voice bank.

Tommie Gorman sees a lad in a Celtic jersey and spits out "Celtic fans" with pure bitterness and hatred. LOL

Masters of the Air wrapped up.

I enjoyed it but found it was all too rushed in 9 episodes. Little character development, skimmed over significant WW2 events and the two leads were fairly unlikeable

Should have been expanded beyond just 9 episodes

Thought Keaton was excellent in it as well as the young girl who played the junkie. Was put on oxy recently after a couple surgeries I had and it’s horrible stuff, tripping off my head throughout the night the few nights they gave me it, pretty vivid nightmares and just a general horrible feeling.
