Someone I think would be is Glenn Whelan, (who is STILL playing) he gives me the impression he's focused, professional, committed and all the other boxes you'd tick for a good manager/coach.

Got thumped by Abdoulaye Faye after reprimanding him for wearing flip-flops during a warm up. He's a professional and all that other stuff but there's so many other things that go into it these days it's hard to tell if that's enough all by itself.

If robbie was serious about managing he would take a less prestigious role and use it as a platform to build himself up.

For example the Pats job was available there a few months back and would have been a good realistic option for him. If he spent 2 years there got some european football and maybe a cup he would have had a shot at a good League 1 club in England.

problem for him now is that he is out of football for 2 years now and the longer he is without a club the hrder it will be for him to get back.

Whether he has what it takes to be a good Manager/Head Coach or not - and I make no judgement on that myself - with his CV, Robbie HAS to get his next job right, otherwise his career in coaching will be over before it's hardly begun.

Which means he should avoid a club where the first team squad has been failing and so needs a major clear-out, which is the case with most vacancies which arise. Also a club where the Owner is a nutter and the whole structure between  manager and owner is unstable and unfit for purpose. Ideally he would be allowed to bring in his own assistants. Above all he needs a club where he will be given proper money and time to get it right.

Of course, very few clubs offer all of these things, if only because such clubs (Liverpool, M.City, basically) will already be happy with their current manager/head coach. And even if one such club should have a vacancy, there will be hundreds of better qualified applicants than Robbie.

But even if he were to settle for only half of those requirements, that would still rule out 90%+ of the clubs in England and Scotland! Which probably explains why he hasn't accepted any opoortunities he may have had to date. (That and the FAI money lol)

Anyhow, I personally wish him well.

keane is irelands grestest ever goal scorer and a legend but jesus his social media is cringe.  Putting up videos of him shaking hands with Robbie Fowler and Ferdinand and Crouch.  Would be understandable if he was just a fan.  Bizarre.

Is he involved in football at the moment (other than taking his wage from the FAI, if that's still happening)?

Not exactly emerging from Leeds with much credit. The reason for taking the job makes sense, but given how it’s panned out, I doubt clubs will be lining up for him or Allardyce in the short term.
