imagine trying to minimize the contribution of someone who scored 68 in 146. absurd. robbie is a legend and rightfully so. who cares if he posts paragraphs on his retirement, his playing career has legitimately been more than half of his life. some of the absolute unreal tripe in this thread is unbelievable, he scored goals for us and always turned up, frequently moving clubs in order to get first team football bc he was captain for us

As was said many times before he retired, we have missed him since he's gone. Even today, he reiterated that playing for his country meant more to him than anything else. There are plenty of other footballers who that alone does not apply to. Robbie actually went out of his way in his club career to ensure he got first team football rather than Bogarding his way to a salary and there is no doubt that that helped his performance for the national team.

We will never see another player like him in green and we certainly won't see anyone scoring as many goals. Hell, we'll be lucky if we see someone else score half as many in our lifetimes, such has been the man's contribution in green. I'll certainly forgive him a little boasting on his retirement. Hell, Pele has been doing it for nigh on forty years; I'll definitely give Robbie the leeway to post a few videos on Instagram today.

That's 68 clapping smileys, and they are well merited.

Absolutely baffles me! Especially when Spurs "fans" start having a go Dead

I've defended him all his career and people will only realise how good he was, now that he's retired.

An absolute legend, the likes of which we will never see again. The greatest Ireland international of all time!

Is there a law or rule that says he has to stop and chat with everyone he meets when he is not doing his job?

No? It's not like I went to his gaff...it was a players/fans meet and greet after the Norn Iron game in the Carling Nations Cup and he was standing in the corner with a security guard between him and the great unwashed

Fair enough, if it was a meet-and-greet and he was acting like that, then that is a pain.
