David Silva getting a statue at the stadium now.
Has this become a thing? Have other clubs done this? Alex Ferguson got one at Old Trafford but you can see why. The holy trinity won the European cup - first English club to do so. |

Henry and Tony Adams got one at Arsenal Dixie Dean at Everton Bobby Robson and Alan Shearer at Newcastle Billy Bremner at Leeds Most of them won less at those clubs than Silva at City

Only a club with no history would put up a statue for staying a club for a prolonged period of time.

City fans hold Silva in very high regard. Same as Henry/Bergkamp getting statues at Arsenal and Shearer at Newcastle.
It far more normal to build a statue years after they retire

It was because it was won while they were in the 2nd tier against the best team in England at the time. Meanwhile City had to get bought out by gay hating financial fair play cheating steroid abusing heretics to win theirs.
