City just dropped out of the top 10. They were doing so well too.

On tonight’s showing I’d agree. Miles off it, and miles off last season’s standards. KDB and Sane were Citys best two players last season, Aguero is their best striker, none of them started tonight. Complacency all round. Gabriel Jesus has been off form for some time now. Bernardo Silva is not a winger What the fook was Delph at for the opening goal?

Would be very silly for anyone to write off the likes of City/PSG after 1 match in what is in essence a 13 game competition.
Plenty of time for teams to gather momentum. PSG just lack the competition week in week out in France to maintain standards at the highest level but it still wouldn't surprise to see them being there or thereabouts given the individual quality they have (Tuchel's job to get them playing as a team) City will still win this group also.

Always think it’s an uphill battle to qualify when you lose your opening game, especially at home.
No margin for error now

I've noticed Fernandinho struggling a bit this season, he played really well (the game escapes me) only a matter of weeks ago but he's giving the ball a frigthening amount incomparison to the standards he's set for himself in the majority of his time in a City shirt.
I wouldn't have many concerns Baggio, Hoffenheim and Shahktar drawing tonight is a great result for City.

Any time City have won the title they’ve failed to improve the team the following summer and have won nothing the following year.
Deja vu? Missing out on Jorginho could be costly in a few months time, Fernandinho isn’t getting any younger

Not just City, every winner for a while now. Ever since Utd did the double in 07 and 08 and who were also the last team to do the double, The winners barely improved/downgraded and consequently failed to win the following season. I understand the saying of don't fix what's not broken but it doesn't work over 2 full seasons in England and it proves it.

Would agree about City, but anyone that thinks PSG are serious contenders are miles off. They will get crushed when it comes to the big games. They lack everything a top football team should have in them.

Agree Coyne. Players lose hunger, get complacent, opposition teams learn how to deal with them better, teams become stale, all factors.
I thought Mahrez would hit the ground running and provided a fresh spark. He’s been disappointing so far. One thing that has been confirmed recently, De Bruyne is Citys main man.

City definitely not at the heights of last season. De Bruyne an absolutely massive loss to them as well which can't be underestimated.
Liverpool City game next month will tell a lot. Liverpool to beat them and have City chasing them all season in the PL I reckon.

[/QUOTEDe Bruyne isn't just their best player. He is their out and out leader imo as well. He set the tone for everything they did last season. He can't return quick enough for them.

Except from having probably the best front 3 in the world? The irony is their biggest strength is also their biggest weakness, Mbappe and Neymar are the best in the world but they're not very good backtrackers which you need in todays era if you go 3 upfront - The amount of times you had Milner murdering Neymar and Sane leaving him chasing shadows I was surprised he wasn't crying for real, he got slaughtered on that flank. |
