The TIFOS are great but there is one way to make them very unpopular and that is to use them during the match when the ball is in play.
Just because we want an atmosphere does not mean we do not want to see the game. The most effective use of the TIFOS is before the game and at natural breaks in play as in half time full time and the odd injury etc. Anything more than that is going to make them unpopular in my view. Fair play to any of those that wave them etc and I suppose some of us who don't wave them and then give out about them being used inappropriately need to take a look at ourselves and think why are we not volunteering so that they are used properly I will put my name down for the Bosnia game in May and make sure that I am waving them before the game and as the team comes out for 2nd half. Also why the need for agression on the terraces. Can people not speak to each other politley without resorting to telling people to f off etc. It is possible to get your point across with a smile and a bit of banter. It can diffuse many a situation. Or just give them a big kiss, it works a treat. Edited by Baldrick - 02 Mar 2012 at 4:44pm |

If the Bosnians turn up in the numbers they turned up to their friendly in Switzerland on Tuesday there'll be a great atmosphere in May.

Must have been mostly Swiss based alright. They filled the stadium and had their own tifo displays. Don't know how many of them are in Ireland, must be a good few anyway. |

crazy reading all this ....people complaining about not waving flags, people complaining about too much waving, instructions being issued on flag waving etiquette , seat allocation or not, standing in wrong row or not, smoke bombs, drinking cans,.......what's next Health and Safety courses on how to be a fan?....taking out insurance to cover yourself if you are sued for blocking someone's view for 30 seconds with inappropriate flag waving or not wearing the correct attire?
FFS......Grow up everyone |
