Richard Dunne (6ft2)  Steve Finnan (6ft) John O Shea (6ft3) Damien Delaney (6ft3) Joey O Brien (6ft) Paul McShane (6ft) Darren O Dea (6ft1) Kevin Kilbane (6ft) Darren Potter (6ft) Darren Gibson (6ft) Keith Andrews (6ft) Andy Keogh (6ft) Daryl Murphy (6ft3) Caleb Folan (6ft2) John Joe O Toole (6ft2) Owen Garvan (6ft)...Then you get into the really tiny lads like the 5ft11 Glen Whelan, and the 5ft11 and a bit Kevin Doyle...

Yeah, sure we've no access to anything but midgets who've never headed a ball in their lives.

Rite so what we will do from now on so.

85th minute.1 nil down to Italy.Lets try and a win a throw.

Then if we get one, we will magically replace our small players with all these 6 foot+ players and see if we can scrap a goal.

As much as I hate Traps tactics, Id hate to see any of ye Delap advocates managing this team

I think this debate is over. Delap hasn't worked with Trap so far so he won't get a look in for the rest of this campaign no matter how well he does for his club.

Delap plays regular first team football for his club, at the highest level and has had a good season, so its unlikely trap is gonna pick him.

the beauty of delap as well is that teams consiously try not to give throw ins away, that in itself leads to general mayhem especailly with our wide players like McGeady and Duff who play right on the byline.

Exactly. The meltdown of the supposedly disciplined Arsenal against Stoke is a prime example.

No one is suggesting that the Irish team should be built around Delap. What the majority of people seem to be saying is that His profile has risen this season, he's scored goals, his form is good, and he's a match winner for his club. He may never take to the pitch again in a green shirt, but the reward of a squad call up for being the only Irish player to feature on the back pages in a good way for several consecutive weeks should have been forthcoming.

Many are wondering what exactly is it that you have to do for a squad call up nowadays, bar building a time machine and fecking off to the Portuguese training camp.

Really think Delap was worth a look at but fairly sure now we won’t see him again in an Ireland shirt, think his presence alone in our squad would have made Bulgaria and Italy think about how to defend against those throws and disrupt their preparation if not totally changed the way they would have been forced to defend, Charlton definitely would have used the psychology of his presence to fook up their preparation.

Very good point Tash.

The sheer sight of him warming up by pumping his guns would have them trembling. Ah but in all seriousness he should be in there on merit. Week in/week out prem footballer.
