I thought he was going to be named in the B squad for the Forest game to be honest.

He's no world beater, but similar to Niall Quinn against Spain (and others) , his very presence would be enough to have the opposition panicking were he to be introduced, forcing them to hastily change their tactics on the spot, and hopefully make mistakes. I wouldn't mind having him in the squad for that "will they / wont they introduce him" factor alone.

I remember John Aldridge naming a very Injured (toe?) Dave Challinor on the bench for Tranmere in a game one season, "just in case" his big 'grape ape' arms were required in the last minutes of a game.

i think delap defo deserves a chance..havent seen much of him at stoke (bar the long throw in's) but he's playing EPL week in week out and creating a lot of goals..defo an option 2 bring on with 10-15 mins to go if we're in need of a goal
I dont email the count anymore, its been 9 months : ( He even sent me a YBIG scarf for my Birthday

I always thought he was underrated and was calling for his recall during the Kerr days.  I have to believe he is past it now though, still has a hell of a left boot I'm sure though

Kennedy........Angry, superb left foot but absolute total enigma.  The sort of player that drives Managers nuts, so much talent, so little substance.

Trapp's his own man and the likes of Delap, Morrisson and Carsley are not going to get a look in..whwther you agree/papers or FAI or not..persoanlly bringing in a player because of a good throw in is a back ward step..he was doing the same throws last year and we didn't hear anyone screaming for a Delap recall.

FACT. Delap has played more games in the premiership than, Gibson, Whelan, A Reid, McGeady and Santa combined

Yes but these are Premiership quality defenders and goalkeepers who are failing to deal with them. If we are 1-0 against Bulgaria with 15 minutes to go and we have not had much luck breaking them down then why not try to use it. He can nearly throw it from the halfway line!

One thing though, Stoke probably practice it in training a few times a week. Trap wouldn't do that for a player who would be on the bench.

Would like to hear some noise coming from him in the next few weeks before the Poland game that he would be interested in a call up

If Trapp has to rely on winning throw ins to get us qualification he shouldn't be the manager

I don't think anyone's suggesting Trapattoni should disregard his tactics and just have an outright reliance on throw ins to win a game. Most people are simply saying that Delap is a proposition that could potentially bring something to the squad,  it's not as if there are suggestions of re-writing the team sheet by leaving out the likes of Duff or Keane to accommodate him.

Anyway, any team could play like Seria A champions and still be 1-0 down because of a dodgy penalty decision...in which case chancing long accurate throw ins in the last seconds might just be the correct course of action to bugger up a well marshalled opposition defence.

Charlton had to rely on a Scottish Sub to reach Euro 88...Never rule out luck, chance or a big flukey rub of the green in football.

When Keane loaned him to Stoke and he broke his leg he concentrated on throw ins from the floor etc.

Definitely an option as previously stated. Stick him on with Folan for a bombardment of their defence.

It's true we shouldnt rely on him but he is worthy of a place in the squad. He has prem defences bricking it when he lines one up and over half of Stokes goals have come from his throw ins Thumbs%20Up
