2 youngish centre halves in Germany, Tah and Ginter would be at least half of that
Not sure if Sule is first choice for Bayern. Would think he'd be an upgrade on anything there at the moment

With all the positions United to improve ,Alderweireld would be a great option. He hasnt signed a new deal and is supposed to be available for 25m.Hes just gone 30 ,so should have 2 or 3 years in him and has been excellenst since he came to EPL.Id expect him to have lots of offers from across Europe.

United need to get in 5 starters and I cant see them spending upwards of 100m on a CB which is likley the price for some of the players mentioned.

He won the Premier League.
If this is correct, during his three seasons at OT, he made precisely 6 EPL starts (plus 25 appearances off the bench), notching a total of 5 goals in the process:

Deserves his own statue outside the Stretford End.

At the very least.

Considering the alternatives open to the likes of De Ligt (inc CL football), if your only selling point is loadsamoney, then you have to question the attitude and commitment of any player who's swayed by that.

At the very least, if he does turn out to be a star, then you're always liable to lose him at any time to the next oil money club who offer a few quid more.

Maguire - just turned 26 in March; full England international; two full seasons in a decent PL team, so knows the level; excellent attitude and professionalism. Do you imagine that MU could attract better (other than for the money)?
Rice - 20 in January; full ROI, er, England international; broke through to the PL as a teenager; versatile and ambitious.

Let's be honest, it doesn't matter who MU sign, they've far too many changes which need making throughout the whole club, to have a hope of challenging for the PL anytime soon.

Therefore players like HM and DR are exactly the sort of player they should be looking to sign imo, with a view to challenging in 3 seasons time, say.

Owen was bought as a back up option. I'd say his transfer worked out fine.

There is no denying Man U is the biggest club/franchise in Britain but it’s not the 90’s anyone.

Man U had the financial muscle to buy any good player in the league they wanted.
It’s a different environment now with all the top 6 (even top 12 EPL) with financial power. They will have to pay over the odds now to attract players. Same for all the top 6 - the selling clubs/players have much more power now.

They have some catching up to do to compete with Liverpool and Man City. It will take a minimum of 2/3 years just to reach their level and up to 6/7 really good signings required.

And they will never be able to complete with Real / Barca.

Every club in the EPL have to pay over the odds for players and it's not easy for the rich clubs to cherry pick from below them with all the TV money in the league. United still a big draw.

The TV deal in place means there isn't the situation that happens in Spain. Its a good thing, no other teams have the sweetheart deal the big two in Spain have.

A restructure behind the scenes at United and If things are done right they can be back competing soon enough. It's only 3 years ago Pool were finishing 8th so this talk of United f**ked for years could be very wide of the mark.

Herrera leaving onna free at the end of the season confirmed.Id rather he stayed but rumoured to want wages way above what hes worth.
It's a pity a few of the duds were given new deals .

Hopefully another 5 are out the door in the coming weeks.

Strange story in the papers today that United turned down the chance to sign De Ligt a few years ago as they thought he would turn out overweight like his father did.

If it was April 1st I’d be saying it was a top April fools story

It was on the mail online though. Chris Sutton retweeted it

Wanted 200k a week and 4/5 year contract, he’s 30 now so it’s a good sign he’s being let go and they’re not falling in to another Sanchez type scenario.

Gone:
Herrera
Valencia

Still to go:
Rojo
Martial
Darmian
Sanchez

I think next season you might see a lot of the youth players being brought through. Tuanzebe will be in the first team, possibly Chong, Gomes and Greenwood.

Forget about de Ligt.
If he doesnt go to Barca he’ll be at Anfield nxt season.

United next a massive overhaul from the bottom up and the top down if they want to compete as a football club and not just a commercial club as van Gaal labelled them.

FFS. 0-2 against a relegated Cardiff?!?

Is it too early to bet on Solskjaer being sacked before 2019 is over?

2 wins and 2 draws (out of 12) since they beat PSG.
He needs a good start to the season.

If they make all the necessary changes and if all the changes are successful, there remains a major problem.

Namely that neither Liverpool nor M.City are going to stand still while they the changes take effect.

Indeed, if Spurs (esp), Chelsea and Arsenal also keep/get their act together, they're all capable of maintaining the current gap between them and MU.

Depends what you mean by "f u c k e d".

No-one seriously imagines MU are about to languish in the bottom half of the table (or worse) for the next few years.

But assuming that the other top 4 or 5 teams don't screw up, then you could see a decade or more where MU finish 3rd or 4th in a good season, 8th or 9th in a bad one, and somewhere in between the rest of the time.

Which would obviously be unacceptable to their followers.

At which point it gets even worse!

For so long as OT is packed out every week and the corporates and sponsors etc don't jump ship, then the profits will continue to roll in.

Which would be very acceptable to the Glazers, meaning that there was very little impetus for change.
