It’s tough to gauge who he’s going to drop from that speel! The one positive is that Enda Stevens will be starting at left back going by those comments. I’ve a bad feeling he’s going to play Coleman over Doherty. It better be Doherty starting if he isn’t going to accommodate both!

Coleman has been extremely good this half for Everton, holding off Origi and then a well timed tackle on Salah.
time is the stuff that life is made of, don't waste it.

A selection headache for Mick then! Good. The more of them going forward, the better.

(Will be nauseating if both Coleman and Doherty can't be accomodated, mind.)

Very solid yesterday. No way he should be dropped as he is defensively stronger than Doherty.

Always amazes at how weak his throw-ins are, very unusual for a modern day full back.

I hear you but playing players out of position just to accommodate them?

Drove me mad at times when Mick played Duff up top with Robbie so he could fit in Killer too.

I haven't seen a whole amount of Doherty playing but when he has played for Ireland Coleman looks a far better defender than him.
In  fairness to Doherty he does very well as a wing back going forward but we most likely won't play that system so for me coleman gets in ahead of him.

But it's not like Doherty is gonna be playing up front, would be playing RM which given how attack minded Wolves are at times it would be a similar role to playing wing back for them and I haven't watched much of Wolves lately but have we got anyone else to play on the right who might be able to swing in a decent cross. Probably end up with something like:

Randolph
Coleman - Duffy - Egan - Stevens
Doherty - Hendrick - Arter - O'Dowda
McGoldrick
Long

i think doherty is in such good form right now he simply has to be in the team. put him in and see how it goes. it would be madness to leave our most in form player sitting on the bench.

Mick is in for criticism whatever he does with Doherty and Coleman, agree that he surely should give Doherty a game with the form he is in but it would be foolish to drop Coleman as well. I think playing Doherty on the right wing makes the most sense but based on his recent interviews it doesn't sound like he is considering that.

I have to admit, that drove me mad too. For such an outstanding specialist winger, Duffer was deployed in some odd places. I remember Fulham playing him at left back for a time ffs.

FWIW, I'd have Coleman in his regular position with Doherty in front of him. It's not quite the musical chairs scenario of Duffer/Killer and Doherty seems fairly adaptable. It would be marvelous if they struck up a good partnership down the right.
