I also think a one sided game (where nothing less is expected), on Sunday at 3pm is less likely to generate an atmosphere. I agree that it would be helpful to make things more accessible, but I doubt the Italian home matches are likely to be the pinnacle of atmosphere for the foreseeable future.

How many lads over 16 but under 30 are at a rugby game I would say very few. You need a decent amount from That age profile to get good atmospheres.

Because the toughest game came on the opening night of the tournament and we won, it almost feels like a foregone conclusion that we will stroll the rest of the tournament. I was only half watching it in the background, but even I noticed that the atmosphere seemed very flat. Ireland would need to slip up vs Wales to make the tournament interesting again.

Having gone to a few egg chasing internationals with work down through the years, I'd argue the biggest atmosphere killer is lads constantly getting up during the game going to the bar. I thought the same when they temporarily allowed it during covid for our game against Portugal. I think he's angling for a singing section like what we have behing the goal. Won't work for rugby. Different demographics

And like the football games, even having a singing section doesn't save the atmosphere when it's just a match just doesn't have that much riding on it because it's an easy win or a friendly. I don't get the big panic, Italy is always a routine win. Watching at home I also wasn't on the edge of my seat compared to what you would be with a game that is going to be close, I.e. the France game away.....until it became obvious that game was also now a hammering.

Way too many mistakes today. Similar to New Zealand match. You can't make that many mistakes and expect to win the toughest matches.
