Whereas Wales are 2/1 to win the grand slam.

That's probably the better value bet of the pair.

It’s one or the other but Wales is the better bet IMO
It’s Gatland last year in charge and Wales are on a roll. 12 wins in a row and peaking at the right time.

France should have beaten them in the first game and then they played the 2 string v Italy. They were fresh v England and looked much stronger in the 2nd half.

Ireland need convincing wins v Italy and France now.

We need bonus point wins against Italy and France and potentially same against Wales. It probably won't line up for us but at least it should be open going into the last game which is at least something and we may come out of this championship on an upward curve.  As long as we don't get injuries, I'm happy with that in a world cup year

It certainly makes it a bit interesting for Ireland, after the first games it felt like the season was over.

Maybe I am being too easily dismissive of a Welsh side that have won 12 in a row, but I cannot  see anything special in this Welsh side. France handed them a win after tearing them open in the first half and the English tactics in the second half yesterday was bizarre. Their defensive struggled against a very basic Welsh attack.

All the talk before the tournament was of rugby being stronger on this side of the world, but all the tournament so far has suggested is that the finalists are probably in the same group in Japan.

Three very mediocre performances.Manager announces he's leaving almost a year in advance, team falls to pieces. It happens so often in so many different sports. Ireland are unrecognisable as the team they were last year. Looking like business as usual in the world cup; losing to South Africa in the quarter finals. No Irish coach has ever been able to get Ireland to peak in world cup year. Joe Schmidt has failed to do it once and the second is looking more and more likely.

I don't think you can fluke your way to five wins against some very good teams. I think TNJ's post is probably accurate, but I also think that they are too predictable and Murray, who has been brilliant and vital for Ireland over the past few years, hasn't looked anywhere near his best.

The Italy away game is a tough one to satisfy. You win well people will dismiss it, you win a tight game people dismiss you. Ireland were fairly comfortable after half time.

00-05 we where pure electric and lost a few championships in the narrowist of margins. problem being we have never being a top 3 side and we arent now. What in particular makes the coaching excellent?? I dont see it

So our best team was when we didn't win 1 championship over five years and won 1 triple crown as opposed to 3 tiles over the last 5 years including a grand slam.  The job of the coach and the team in professional sport is to win

Yeah i believe so, by a long way, dont think any of the current crop bar murray would make that team. Schimdt will win games but he will kill the game too. Who will watch that borefest when we lose a few in a row and the other teams work us out.

So you are dismissing successes that has actually had and you are judging him on things in the future that haven’t happens :) and you think not winning the six nations in 5 years is better than winning it 3 out of five years including a grand slam :).

You can’t be serious
