That is an awful piece of writing! Nothing to do with the subject but I hope that was for the school paper.

Ivana Bacik had an interesting piece in the IT about the manner in which these sorts of trials are conducted and carried out, and in line with what SD has been saying. The system in the South has much more structure in terms of the protection of the complainant, between the availability of aided legal representation, and the in camera nature of proceedings, which prevents a media circus raising itself.

More marches down here again today.....
The trial was in another jurisdiction for f**k sake. Wonder if it wasn't a high profile case (but circumstances where the exact same) would there be any of these type of marches or concern. |

While it would have been very hard to keep both parties involved anonymous until the verdict due to the high profile of the defendants, the complainant should never have had to go through this case in such a public fashion. Definitely something which needs to be look at in that jurisdiction.

Or the other side of that coin, as the Traveller actor John Connors asked -if the lads were 4 travellers, or 4 working class lads, would the verdict have been the same, with the same evidence. |

Maybe it would maybe it wouldn't. But on the basis of the way the case was presented the jury had no option but to acquit IMO As I said you could also argue if they weren't well known would there be these marches etc... Edited by Denis Irwin - 31 Mar 2018 at 1:35pm |

Jackson was cleared, none of us can say with any certainty what really happened that night. Now if you were him and you didn't do anything and are actually completely innocent, would you decide that you're not gonna let people insinuate that you actually did rape her and use your legal right to clear that up?

Clermont v Racing is at half time with the hosts leading by a point. Would rather face Racing in the semi.
