Many people will be basing it on history and reputation than current realities then. South African rugby is in a complete mess and is going to get worse before it gets better, there is no way the problems will be sorted in 2 years. They were very much the weakest of the second teams. In fact, I would say it gives Italy a serious and very reachable goal of making the quarter finals again, despite being the weakest of the third band and in a serious mess. |

They definitely got the toughest group but you would expect them to progress, although we said that last time too! It could be interesting as France and Argentina are very good at hitting peak performance for World Cups.

The only way that draw could possibly have been any better for us is if we drew Georgia instead of Japan. And England in the group of death as well. As RWC draws go I'd give this one a 9.5/10.

Ah here, Winners and 2 runners up. Last one wasn't good but a wee bit of perspective.

And they were at home last time. Should have been a massive advantage for them

Ah yeah, theres no doubt they choked massively. But, they won the last 2 6 nations relatively easily, they've been consistently beating Southern Hemisphere sides ( undefeated run against Sa, AUS and ARG ), so for you to suggest that they'll be beat by France and Argentina ( I'd think that would need to happen for them to go home early ), well, if thats your opinion, grand, I can't see it personally.

They are a far better team now than then, that is for sure and there is a clear reason why they are second favourites. There is a slight chance that they have peaked too soon and that Fance, in particular, and Argentina are on course to hit their peak when England are coming down. It is all very unlikely though, if not impossible. It still looks like, although it could change, a NZ-England final, unless they can meet in the semis?

The Scots will be more delighted with the draw then we will IMO.
Japs will be interesting on home territory. I predict more Q-Final failure for the Goys in Green |

don't think you could ask for a better draw than that. interesting to see if Pool A and C face each other in the next round or if they are to do another draw regarding which pool faces which...
in terms of the 'group of death', preparations will be very different for argentina in 2019. they haven't had to deal with playing a full season of super rugby before the start of a world cup as the jaguares only started in super rugby in 2016. would be great though if the argies and French both beat England!

And the Japanese will be more delighted with the draw than the Scots. The Scots will have been very pleased with drawing us but will be fearful of the hosts. They'll know the Japanese will be targeting them as a very realistic prospect to qualify from the group.

Well the Scots got the easiest band 1 team but the second hardest band 3..... I think the Japanese will be the happiest with the group, they will have a punchers chance in very game. What is the route to the final does anybody know? Can England meet NZ in the semis?

I think it's a handy draw.
Pm writing off SA is a bad thing imo they always do well at the world cup, in fact the last time they were wrote off before 2007 they won the thing. |
