Ranked 17th in Europe, long term it so important to stay in Top 20 so that we will be a second seed come future WC qualifying draws.

I can't think that this seems representative of the way we've been playing, and the results we have been getting, these past two years.

Do we have old but good results dropping off from several years back?

The only thing I can say is that seeding doesn't worry me at all as I would have no problems at all to draw at least 50% of those above us!

No chance of us being seeded now in a play off. Go out and win them all now cos I wouldn't like to be playing Switzerland or Italy.

Would also be to do with the amount of friendlies we play, and losing that one to Mexico. Home draws in games we should have been winning...Scotland, Austria...could even maybe include Poland and Wales in there.

It's the FIFA World Cup so they use FIFA World Rankings (as long as they don't change the system they have used up to now to suit some "big" teams).

It doesn't matter how average the group is MON always builds up the opposition as if they are the 1970 Brazilians because that's just one of the things he does.

Not much more than a year ago Austria were dark horses to win Euro 2016 now heading towards the 60's in the world rankings. Ouch.

Ha remember when we played Mexico and lost, peoples biggest worry was that we wouldn't be seeded for a play off.
