This guy is the perfect example of the type of player we should be developing and the paths they should aspire to take. For a young fella he has played a hell of a lot of football in the championship over the past few seasons and it certainly it has been the making of it. He is a technically good player, the type of player the FAI should be developing at home. It doesn't always have to be about the premier league and breaking into a side there.

With the big premiership clubs buying the best talent from all over the world i hope that the best young soccer players in ireland take the same route that hendrick did by going to a championship or even a league 1 club. They will be more likely to break into the starting 11 and start playing competitively at a senior level rather than wasting away in arsenals or uniteds reserve or youth teams. If they are good enough they will eventually get their move to a big team like mccarthy did. Another one taking a similar route to hendrick is alan browne and you can easily spot that he is a step above most of our u21 who are just playing for premier league reserve teams.

It's not always that easy to turn down Man United or Chelsea, for let's say Sheffield Wednesday or Blackburn though? If you look closely, most of the young lads at the likes of United and Chelsea around Hendricks age are already out on loan to clubs all over Europe anyway. |

brilliant when he came on, always wanted the ball and lovely assist for the goal! My preferred CM partnership would be him and McCarthy

Playing SS1 and is a joy to watch, just scored a beaut. If we line up like we did against Georgia with 1 sitting and 2 more advanced then for me he has to be one of the 2. Technically very good, let mccarthy do the running and covering at CDM and Hendrick and Gibson for me further forward. Doherty, Keogh and Christie also playing.
