I know you lot defend every Irish player to the hilt, but this fella ffs, you could say he's one of the worst players to have ever regularly played for Ireland. Offers us absolutely nothing. Or Burnley, or Newcastle.

I think the truth lies somewhere in the middle TBH. He's an established mid-tier PL player who's proven himself at that level over a sustained period of 5 years. He's been good for us. He hasn't fulfilled the potential he looked like showing in two odd games at Euro 2016, but I think people were bestowing unreasonable expectations on him which he was always unlikely to reach. Tournaments are always a hit and miss indicator of these things anyway. For every player who announces himself as a future superstar, you have lads like Marek Heinz who looked incredible for Czech Republic over a period of a few weeks in the summer of 2004 before going on to do pretty much nothing else with his career; also see Jerome Rothen for an example at club level. I think Hendrick is just a whipping boy at this point. He's probably been our best midfielder under Kenny. Our ills go further than just him.

He's been ok in this game against Arsenal. Tidy in possession in tight areas without being adventurous with his passing. Newcastle have been all route one in the 2nd half, which means the game has mostly by-passed the midfield.

About 45 minutes later and I can't remember the last time Jeff was on the ball.

I didn't really watch the game just seen a few highlights but it looked like he was involved in both Newcastles best chances. The build up for 2 of Carroll's chances.

Say what you like about Jeff, but when was the last time we had a player make it to the Puskas awards?

You asked if I'd be anyone from history, fact or fiction, dead or alive:

Absolutely stealing a living. Had to check LiveScore after 15 minutes. Name wasn't mentioned once.
It's not even remotely a joke now if this guy starts for Ireland. Complete spoofer and a passenger in every team he rocks up to.

You'd swear that Hendrick is the only Newcastle player underperforming.

Utterly brainless second yellow for Newcastle there.
