It's just nonsense tbh. Bizarre nonsense. It would be like Celtic fans in 2017 saying "oh no, the league isn't over until it's mathematically done" as Celtic are 20 plus points ahead of 2nd spot well into the season and looking at the possibility of an unbeaten season.

I think Celtic have won a few league titles since 1990.

In 86, Everton were 8 points clear in February. Liverpool won the double.

In March 89, Arsenal were 15 points clear of Liverpool. The title race went to the wire.

In December 93, Blackburn were about the same behind utd. The title race went all the way to the penultimate game.

In 2012, City were 8 points behind in April, and needed 2 goals in injury time in their last game to win the league. We know what happened.

I'm 2014, Liverpool needed 7 points from 3 games to win the league, and only got 4.

In 2019, Liverpool dropped 5 points in January, to be 5 points clear at the end of the month. Within 7 days, Liverpool were 2nd.

Liverpool fans are not unrealistic, but understandably cautious. All this talk of "champions elect" and "periods of domination" , well before it's actually happened, is just that, talk so people can say things about Liverpool fans come May. Very few are falling for it.

LOLLOL yes, you've rumbled it, its all a conspiracy and the whole football world has an agenda against Liverpool

If all Liverpool fans were to start acting like it's over and that attitude sinks into the team bad things could happen. Fair play to Liverpool fans for not taking the bait. They clearly know better.

I genuinely don't get this. What do Liverpool fans think is going to happen? If a load of people keep saying on ybig and other football forums say that Liverpool have the title won (which they very much have), the players are going to go mad and start celebrating. Out drinking every day, a few months of champagne and cocaine in every city in England they play in?
"I called him an embarrassment to FIFA and to himself," .... He said 'No-one speaks to me like that'.... and I said, "well I do' and that was that."

Every year was going to be Liverpool's year according to Liverpool fans, now that's its actually happening they wont accept the obvious, unless the whole team get seriously injured 2mro and miss the rest of the season, they are winning it. Ridiculous to say it's not over, it is. Players have Champions league to defend, standards wont drop just cos fans accept the obvious.

I think the funniest part is that they seem to be implying that this is unique, that there is some bait or agenda in saying they've the league won and everyone's out to get them.

When Pep won his first ten in a row, City were champions-elect in the media.
When Mancini got an 8 point lead over United, City were also champions-elect. When he surrendered it to go 8 points behind, United were champions-elect. This instance also completely rubbishes the idea that Liverpool's wait for the title makes it unique - City had waited a lot longer by that season.
Chelsea were champions-elect in Mourinho's second season back long, long before May came around.
I'd roughly (and conservatively) estimate that in 2 of every 5 seasons, the league is declared over in the media well before Christmas.

It happens every single year a team gets up a relatively commanding lead at the top of the table, regardless of who they are, and it's been said with much narrower margins than it is being said this year.

Name them. Apart from Sid, I don't think Liverpool fan has come here over the years saying the above, or anything like it. I haven't found many more either, away from ybig.

Of course Liverpool fans could say that a 13 point lead with a game in hand, means the league is over. But as it stands, Liverpool still require 13 wins from the remaining games to wrap it up, and there won't be anyone celebrating or holding trophy parades until that happens.

Like I said last week, we've all been burnt too many times in the last 30 years so are understandably cautious but yeah it'd take some almighty collapse to not win it
