But anyone who openly posts how much he "hates" Liverpool, then pops up to repeatedly post in this thread, must be here for some sort of macabre punishment. I genuinely can't think of any other reason why they would be here.

As soon as the draw was made, the idea that Liverpool would win this tie was widely dismissed by posters here, pundits in the media, and the general public. Despite City's record at Anfield, they were expected to win both legs, and were favourites for the whole competition over Real, Bayern and co.

Then the football started, and now they have their answer.

But this thread is a Liverpool FC one my dear.

Everyone knows you are. What's wrong with admitting it? Are you afriad we might think you'd be biased in some way? LOL
Wings? They're only the band The Beatles could have been.

Never a red, but he did run the risk, especially with that ref. He only thought he was the business

Oh I agree it was never a red, however the refs are card happy in European games and I wouldn't have been that shocked if he got one.

His shooting was woeful and wasteful. miles wide or simply rolled straight to the keeper

He looked a bit tired and leggy last night.

City are by far and away the best team in the league this year, but they just came up against a team with more desire to win. you need that fire in your belly

Same with Roma last night

But......you've got to score goals.
You can play well and be unlucky that you haven't scored more though. Sure they scored a perfectly good second last night just before half time that was ruled out.
City could quite easily have gone in at half time at least 2-0 ahead, and had they done that would have been a perfect first half.
Agreed.
You could also argue that Liverpool could have won 5-0 last week.
That's football.

And a team who are peaking at the right time. City's peak this season has gone it seems.

Agreed. And cup football especially requires an element of luck more often than not, as was my initial point.
It could also have been 2-1 after leg 1 had some sort of proper VAR been in operation.

On the other hand, there are about 8 or 9 City players who were poor over the two legs so can't say they deserved anything.

He's a good looking lad.
Especially in those tight shorts he wore in the 90s LOL

Liverpool are now the top scorers in one season in Champions League history.

And they still have 3 games to go !!!

Liverpool worthy winners over the two legs. They got bashed for 45 mins last night but they were the much better side over 90 mins at Anfield. They got a good bit of luck with some decisions but also took their chances and got the game plan spot on for the first leg.
Fourth place is wrapped up so they can rest players and put all their energy into the CL. As can Bayern and Real too in fairness. Roma don't have that luxury.
Should be an interesting finish. Once Real don't win it again, I'll be happy enough

Liverpool had 8 shots on target in the 2 games and scored 5 goals, lethal.

I thought he was City's best player in the first leg, but given how poor they were in general, that would probably be a 6/10 rating at best.
He was very good first half last night also I thought, but faded second half.

On the other hand, City put in an Oscar Pistorious performance.
Lost both legs but had 4 shots on target.

Liverpool have scored more goals this season in the Champions League than Everton have scored in the Premier League
