Liverpool's form has been incredible over last season and a half so as a Liverpool fan I can't make a logical argument for not winning the league. We'd have to completely collapse which is most unlikely given how solid we've been. Even when Liverpool haven't played well like yesterday they stil get the three points. Manchester City have been disappointing this year and Leicester won't be able to mount a run to come back into it. |

Yes.
I could see them losing one or two games max. They’ve a great chance of going invincible though. They might draw a few in the second half of the season but the points record is definitely a big possibility

The whole thing is just bizarre. This a team who are European champions, who got 97 points in last seasons PL and would have won the title only for City's amazing last 15 games winning streak to pip them, who have lost 1 PL match in about their last 60. They have lost 1 game in 60. Man City have lost 5 is it this season alone? It is an absolute procession to the title and rightly so, as they are that much better than the other sides in the PL this season. City are not a patch on the side they were in either of the last 2 seasons. The aim of the season now is a CL and PL double. That is where this huge lead will be priceless come March/April.

Equal it I think. 114 points is max available. They’ve dropped 2 so 112 left. Lose 4 games only gives them 100. Am I correct ?

Sheffield, spurs, United, wolves and a West ham under new management. That's a hard run of games and as a neutral I'm not declaring it over until they're safely past that. If they were to lose a few and the gap to close the pressure will be on. Very unusual I know.

Pep's arrogance and being too stubborn for his own good has cost City numerous points this season imo. Even without Laporte the likes of Stones, Otamendi, (Garcia looks a decent prospect) etc are all more than good enough to keep the majority of PL sides at bay in a functioning team unit as good as City are. Pep will never change his principles or adapt to a point where it would alter his sides style, it's a major flaw when judging him as a manager imo. The baffling continued decision to persist with a high line against teams who can only counter attack when missing some of your key defensive players (including taking Fernandinho out of his role) is sheer madness and egotistic. |

How? City did it two years ago with no one on their coat tails It’s entirely possible. As Martin Keown said on motd last night, they can lose 4 games and still get the points record.

Sane’s out for the season too
Rodri had a month out Aguero just back from a month out Silva’s been out at least a month now De Bruyne was injured too earlier in the season Been more than one injury There are many reasons as to City’s failure to mount a title challenge this season though. Liverpool have dropped two points though. Two points! And we’re in January No one was ever stopping that.

It will be harder in many ways to get a record points total if they have nobody on their.coat tails. If.they donit will be an even greater achievement.
Great side to watch and you wouldnt begrudge that squad of players and manager a league title.

Well done for proving the point made. Can't argue with that. As for City, one injury should not derail an entire season. It's a team sport. One injury should be an opportunity for someone else to step up and make their mark with minimal disruption, without the whole house of cards tumbling down around them. Fabinho has been out for a month, Matip for two. Someone else just comes in and does the same job. It's not rocket science.

Agree with ZZ, the league is over and it has been a very poor league this season with all the major players other than Liverpool in transition or in some kind of turmoil. Reminds me of the year Leicester won the league. Liverpool are doing what they need to do and taking advantage to their credit. There seems to be an acceptance across the board that this is Liverpools year and everyone is buying into it, hence such an underwhelming season, not that Liverpool fans will give a toss.

The league is over and Liverpool can break a lot of records.
They should get around 100 pts and could win the league by 20 pts.
They will drop points but can anybody beat them? They have Tottenham, Wolves, Everton and Man City away. I don’t see them losing at home or to any of the other away teams. |

I’ve a Liverpool fan friend who is the same. I think he just wants to make it exciting as the procession towards the title will be a bit of an anticlimax after 30 years of no title.
When city won last night he sent me a message saying “City win to keep the pressure on” Yea they’ll just be 17 behind now once Liverpool win their game in hand. Edited by Roberto Baggio - 30 Dec 2019 at 8:12am |

You have to love this. Are Liverpool fans still going to be pedalling 'the league isn't over line' when there's about 10 PL games left with Liverpool 30 points ahead and 50 goals better on goal difference than the team in 2nd? Oh no, what if Liverpool lost their last 10 PL games by huge margins. It's happened them before The PL title was more or less Liverpools when City decided not to sign another CB in the summer. It was confirmed as LiverpoolsPL title this season the moment Laporte suffered a long term injury. Are people actually watching this Liverpool side play this season or are they just playing repeats of Steven Gerrard's slip in a state of constant panic and anxiety?

I’ll worry about it when city players and manager are wearing T shirts in support of a racist

Most people who think the league is over, are neutrals. Liverpool fans have seen the chart too many times over the past few years, to think the league is over yet.
