Despite not being suited to a passing game and on occasion he was sloppy with possession, that was a good performance from mcclean. He was always that outlet on the left and as a result seen a lot of the ball.

OK he's not going to beat players anymore, his crossing is never going to be great but he puts in a shift, provides width for the team and doesn't shy away from the ball

He did well getting forward. He's not a defender and never will be, there's always risks when he plays wing back. As others have said, he wouldn't start only for injuries. Can never fault the shift he puts in it or accuse him of hiding.

Was slated on here the other day because he couldn't beat the first man with a cross. Last night his crossing was spot on and now he is being picked on for his positioning.

Some people just love to hate him. I don't rate him myself, and was poor v Portugal and Azerbaijan, but he had a solid game last night.

I'll admit my heart sank when I saw him named in the team before the match after last Saturday but in the end, I thought he had a decent game last night.

I think most thought he did very well. He's never been a technical creative player and not many are.

I think his performances are usually best described as 'workman like' performances. And I don't mean that in a bad way, as I see it a lot of teams can do with such players.

He is not and never will be a wing back. It's been tried countless times at some of his clubs and briefly under O'Neill.
He simply does not know how to stay with his man and close down the spaces. The Serbia winger had the freedom of the left hand side last night. Baffled that Kenny cannot see this.

2 goals and an assist. Not a bad afternoon.

You could bump some amount of derogatory comments in this thread.

May be in League One, but he's at a club that love him, a manager that rates him and an international manager that rates him too.  Too many had dismissed him as being finished.  He's always been a good player, playing under the bitter fud that is Michael O'Neill was destroying him.

He has a McClean slate at Wigan.

He was his own worst enemy at Stoke towards the end and only had himself to blame for the fallout with O'Neill and his departure from the club. He'd still be playing at a higher level for a club challenging for promotion to the Premier League if wasn't acting the bollocks.

His 19/20 season under O'Neill was arguably his best season in England since his debut season for Sunderland. He was voted club player of the year.

O'Neill rated him very highly but theres only so much a manager can take of a player thats forever going against you and the club.

The man, and his family, have been subjected to a vile and sustained sectarian hate campaign for many years now. But of course, it is all just bollocks initiated by him.
