To be fair the Sunderland fans hounded him and destroyed his confidence, just over the poppy craic.
They should of known what was coming if they lost today. Sweet revenge in McClean's mind.

The British are a funny lot. When Samuel Eto'o is met with a torrent of racist abuse in La Liga and reacts back, it is applauded. When Mario Balotelli is met with a torrent of racist abuse in Serie A and reacts back, it is applauded. When James McClean is met with racist and sectarian chanting for 90 minutes and reacts back, he is a "naughty boy". Make up your f***ing minds. Fist pump....

Fist pump according to McNally on SSN as well...trouble-maker I think is what he called him and Shreeves had a go as well. Media daggers out early for him this year. Football fans - if you can dish it out, don't go crying over a little fist pump. Hopefully no punishment from the FA. Rapidly becoming a favourite of mine. As somebody said earlier it's nice to see a Premier League player not forgetting who he is and where he's from. A personality is not a bad thing
