First I've ever heard of him turning down Liverpool before the Spartak Moscow move
Turning down United as a youngster (if that's true) may not have had that big an impact on his career. Every youngster at United doesn't come through as a world class player.

Never heard either of those.

McGeady spoke intensively about his move to Russia, why and how it happened etc..and there was no mention of Liverpool.

9 mins onwards he discusses his move to Spartak

I wouldn't be shocked if he retired from football.

He always comes across as a lad who needs the right challenge and I'm not sure he will find one. I hope I'm wrong.

How did he get on with Lenny? Could he head up to Hibs?

That would be brilliant for him alright, not sure what the budget is like there though, especially if they hang on to the key players
like McGinn.
They have sold 10k season tickets already for next season though.

McGeady wouldn’t cost too much. Signed for Sunderland for 250k. Wonder how much he would be on weekly now.

I would imagine a huge cut in wages would be needed for him to go there. The average weekly wage at Hibs is only a grand and a half a week. McGeady would be on a lot more at Sunderland than the highest paid players outside Glasgow.
Realistically, only Celtic can afford the salary he would currently be on but the chance to move back to Scotland and play for Lenny might interest him.

I think he's on about 20K at the moment, that may well drop to 12-15 for next season though. Only two clubs in Scotland could afford him, and neither is likely to happen for very different reasons.
We're decent enough..

Wherever he goes he'll have to take a massive pay cut.

Only chance of a decent club picking him up is if he gets out of his contact early which Im sure the club would be willing to negotiate. Then as a free agent he'd find something no bother.

I reckon he will get a move to another Championship club.

Middlesborough were about to sign him but he signed for Preston because of Grayson.

Was definitely scouted by Arsenal as a youth player, there's a photo of him in a Arsenal jersey with Liam Brady

Aiden McGeady

92 Ireland Caps, 2 tournaments, one young player of the year award
3 SPL winners medals, 2 Scottish Cups, 2 Scottish league Cups
6 player, young player or fans player of the year awards at Celtic
4 SPFA player, young player or team of the year awards
SPL young player of the year
BBC Sportsound Player of the year
8 Player of the month awards
Russian League top 33 player member
PNE player of the year

Aye what if indeed. He's a gantleman, carved out a great professional career for himself across three countries. Represented Ireland with pride almost 100 times at senior and since u17.

I've a feeling if McGeady had a Dublin accent people would be cumming in their trunks over him...just a theory.

Spot on mate. I'm yet to see anyone on here ever be in any way critical of Stephen Ward, Jeff Hendrick or Robbie Brady.
