Agree with mcgeady but keeper is such an important position if Kelleher is not fit I think we have to play westwood.

Westwood and McGeady are beyond it now. We need to use these qualifiers to bring through players.

Agree with everyone about Westwood similar to McGeady it would be crazy to omit these guys from a squad so decimated by injury

I think given the lack of experience in the GK department, it's a no brainer to call up Westwood of he's fit. I'd be still leaning towards starting Kelleher if he's fit but we know Westwood wouldn't let us down if needed

I'm not sure - think I read McCarthy and Egan etc. were ruled out while Connolly and Idah were doubts....I could be mistaken. EDIT - here's some info:

Westwood announced on Feb 24 that he had been playing with pain and had been diagnosed with broken ribs.
Back starting today, less than 3 weeks later. Does this mean we have hope that Connolly's similar(?) injury could see him return to the pitch assuming he got the injury a week or two ago? Obviously all dependent on the severity and whatnot......am just thinking out loud.. |

I thought he would be out. If Kelleher is not fit I think Westwood needs to be called up to play imo.
If he plays today and again during the week it would be great.

My guess is that Kenny would tell Westwood he wants to bring through the younger goalkeepers, even if injuries force the issue. Westwood probably wouldn't want to come back as second or third choice at 36 years old unless he has a clear path into the team or a chance of competing with Randolph for the position. Then there is the fact that he's pretty injury prone and we mightn't be able to depend on him long-term. I'd be happy enough to go with him for these games if Kelleher doesn't make it. Kelleher would probably be my first choice followed by Westwood. I'd be sh*tting bricks with Travers or Bazunu in there. It's a complicated enough situation though, when you consider all the variables.

Out with broken ribs. In better news, Randolph returned at the weekend.

No one kidding anyone Kellehers distribution is phenomenal and many will point to this well above average even for his age/lack of experience. This is not an alien opinion.
