All about marketing these days ... great f**king mascot

Oh yeah, Jonny Hayes is a marketers dream. He's got the looks, the charisma, the whole package. Next stop Hollywood!

Or maybe he's just a tidy winger with a good assist record

You asked if I'd be anyone from history, fact or fiction, dead or alive:
I said "I'd be Tony Cascarino, circa 1995"

I don't watch enough of Celtic to call it; but will this guy get real game time?

Seems a case of weakening your opponents by buying their best players.

Don't really watch Scottish Football either but I believe he was in team of the year so, I'd imagine he'll get game time but as you said it also weakens an opponent too

I watch a lot of Celtic, Id say he'll be a rotation player, Celtic had very strong wingers last season, with Roberts back at man city and Forrest not the best with injuries he will see game time. Rodgers knows him and as mentioned, taking a rivals best player as well.

I'm a bit surprised he's McInnes hasn't asked him to hold out until he becomes Sunderland manager, he may have wanted to bring Hayes along with him.
We're decent enough..

He may have asked but surely Hayes would have told him fcuk off.
Sunderland Vs Celtic

He'd probably get more money at Sunderland.

Exactly, and more likely to be a first choice player.

I doubt Sunderland or any championship club would offer much more than Celtic are currently.

Playing championship football or playing in Europe/winning trophies at Celtic! tough choice

At his age, hes better off taking the safest option and joining Celtic. He mightn't play week in/out, but you'd hope they'd get a decent run in Europe under Rodgers and he'd see some playing time as a rotation player.

Sunderland arent going anywhere any time soon by the looks of things. I think itd be a sideways step. No guarantee hed even play week in/out there either, but youd imagine wages would be better.

Was linked to Cardiff in January but Aberdeen turned down their offers, if they were to step up their interest I think that'd be best move for him from a playing point of view anyway.

He's likely brought in as squad cover lads if Sinclair gets injured and if Roberts doesn't come back from Man City or moves elsewhere (Huddersfield is a whisper).

He's better than Gary Mackay-Steven and Hayes can score from long range, good left peg and aggressive and honest, so he'll be an addition to the squad.  Given however how Rodgers completely turned around the form of Armstrong, Boyata and McGregor (to name but three), Hayes could be another who excels under Rodgers, time will tell as usual.

Medical in the morning it seems, has travelled back from his holidays. I suppose he can cover left back and right wing too, it is very underwhelming though. He certainly isn't being signed to weaken Aberdeen, although it is a bonus, it seems BR has a lot of time for him.

I'm not sure you's know how Sunderland operate these days! The equivalent of going to Aldi for your shopping.

Got more chance of Willo Flood signing nowadays LOL

I read some quotes from BR last season praising Hayes Rodgers was a coach at Reading Academy when Hayes was there so obviously knows what he can do.

I don't know about getting fellas from the Scottish league. I'm all for giving them a go like but the standard is level with Ireland like.

It isn't great but it isn't that bad either! Sure look at Limerick last night, 2-3 handy fellas but Robbie Wiliams and Dean Whitehead wouldn't get a game for East fife.
