Why is he called sleeves? i assumed at first, years ago, he was tattooed but he isnt?

Is it something stupid like he always wore long sleeve jerseys so they called him Sleeven or something?

What an unforgettable weekend, Just watching it back on sky sports now it's  starting to sink in how special it was, As a fan base we have been through a lot of hard times over the past 5 years particularly and to finally have something to shout about and feel like the club is on it's way back again is a great feeling, It was a very composed and professional performance by the lads we never really were threatened by Wycombe, The relief and joy when Ross Stewart scored the second was unbelievable, special mention to the 46 thousand Sunderland fans who made it an incredible atmosphere, Bring on the championship

Stephen Elliott was born in Dublin in the Republic of Ireland. He is often known by the nickname of Sleeves, which he picked up whilst playing for Sunderland from a phrase he said "Sleeves Up"

Hearing from a very reliable source that Niall Quinn stuck £500 on at 10/1 for Sunderland to get promoted.

He was getting the pints in at Dublin airport for the Sunderland fans after promotion was secured.
