Sunderland AFC is to welcome two new non-executive directors to the club. 

David Jones, presenter of Sky Sports flagship Super Sunday and Monday Night Football programmes and Tom Sloanes, commercial director (Exchange) at GVC Group, one of the world’s largest sports-betting and gaming groups, will join following EFL approval. 

David, as well as his high-profile role at Sky Sports, was previously a director at Oxford United for three years. 

Tom has worked closely with Sunderland AFC for the last two years in his senior role with the club’s principal partner BETDAQ and brings with him many years of top-level commercial experience.

 

Given that David Jones has been critical of SAFC it will be interesting to see what he has to say.

Aiden McGeady training with Sunderland Under-23 squad as Phil Parkinson reveals latest on winger's future.
 
 

Parkinson said: “Obviously he can’t move on until January. We had that conversation to give him the opportunity to prepare and to give us the ability to look at who we were going to bring in to replace him.

“He is fine. He has been training with the Under-23s. We want to focus on the lads who will be here.

“He wants to keep himself as fit as possible if a move does materialise then he is ready to play straight away."

When quizzed on whether there was any way back for McGeady, Parkinson made it clear the Republic of Ireland international had no future at the club.

He added: “From my point of view and the owner, we have had a chat about it, we feel it is the right thing for the club moving forward.”

The Sunderland boss has previously said that it was not related to one specific incident, and factors both on and off the pitch had played a part in his hugely controversial decision.

More depressing suff yesterday Sunderland couldn't even beat or score against the bottom team and we are five games without a win FFS.I  usually  would give managers a chance to turn it around but Parkinson looks completely out of his depth and should be sacked before it gets even worse.

And then disguised a loan as a takeover to make things worse for himself.
