Sunderland's debt to Security Benefit Corporation has been satisfied, Companies House have confirmed.

Ellis Short agreed to pay off the remainder of the loan when selling the club to Stewart Donald.

As Donald pays the £40 million fee he agreed with Short in installments, the former Sunderland owner has in turn been paying off the last of the club's external debts.

Those have now been satisfied, moving the club into a new financial era.

Donald will now continue to pay the fee agreed for the club to Short, who retains some securities in the meantime.

Donald and Charlie Methven agreed to stagger the payments with Short in order to be better equipped to deal with the significant financial hurdles to be cleared during the summer.

Since agreeing that deal, Ururguayan businessman Juan Sartori has bought a 20% stake in the club and joined the board of directors.

 ClapClapClap

Good to see the clubs finances begin to stabilise. Promotion a must this season then hopefully a push at the Championship next year although we may need to bide our time given some of the crazy money being thrown around that division.

Hoping Sartori is in for the long haul.

Hopefully Papy Djilobodji will be going on loan to  Turkish side Trabzonspor before the transfer deadline tomorrow.

Excellent atmosphere and craic a real throwback back standing at  a game and not a primadona in sight. I hear you may be over for the return game in February?

Jack Ross saying its unlikely that Sunderland will get any new players in before the deadline today.

Though with Aido Sinclair Watmore Wyke and Flanagan to come back from injury hopefully we will be okay till January.

Didier Ndong could in theory still move to Benfica.

The Portuguese window remains open until September 21.

Given we were down to ten men I'd settle for the draw and being two points off the top of the league. Good to see Charlie and Dylan coming on and doing well.

Respect to a Oxford supporter that I met at the weekend he had left his house in Cork at 4.00 am on the Saturday morning to get his flight.

Hardcore.
Cool

I'd imagine Charlie Wyke Dylan Mac Reece James, Ethan Robson and Luke O'Nien will all get run outs tonight.

Aido still not near full fitness.

I realise and fully understand the negativety surrounding the Checkertrade trophy but there were some good positives for Sunderland tonight.

Impressive performances and game time for Dylan Mac Charlie Wyke Flanagan O'Nien and Sinclair.

Plus its always good to win a peno shoot out.

Would love to see Sunderland attempt to go all the way in the Checkatrade!

20,000/30,000 fans getting a chance to see Sunderland in a cup final no matter what the level would definitely appeal to me anyway!

League 1 is priority mind!

Thanks DM for the Coventry away ticket! Looking forward to it now

This is the problem with the tournament though, when all the other matches average under 1500 people per game all the bandwagoners come out in force.

I would be in favour of the Government bringing back the death penalty on a one-off basis just for the bloke who thought this tournament was a good idea. as RB said in the Checkatrade thread, only good thing about it is you're nearly guaranteed a win on the goals galore coupons (over 70 goals scored yesterday)

League One definitely the priority but this cup competition can help with players finding form and fitness.
