I’d be worried about this lad. Good young defender but injury prone. Could be another Tommie Hoban.

A battling display by Sunderland tonight despite being down to ten men and losing 2 0 Gooch scored a beauty.
Young Anthony Patterson was outstanding surprised Alex Neil didn't bring on Patrick Roberts. Hopefully some reinforcements at Wearmouth before the window closes. |

Absolutely, the lads can take a lot of heart from that performance as the sending off changed the game, Poor from Neil but he's only a young lad and will learn from it, I think we'll be fine this season, we've shown in all our championship games so far that we're more than able to compete at this level but we really need some additions in the transfer market as soon as possible

Yea I think Dan Neil got carried away tonight he put in some iffy challenges before his red card. Hopefully Alex Neil will get his wishes in the transfer window.

Reinforcements are urgently needed, this squad is way too light for this league. Neil knows this and I hope he gets the necessary backing because it is going to be a very long and arduous season if he does not.

Sunderland have ‘agreed a deal’ to sign Herediano and Costa Rica youngster Jewison Bennette, for four years. Bennette, 18, has been linked with a surprise move to Sunderland for the past two weeks or so.

Yea according to Keith Downie from sky hopefully Sunderland will offer Alex a new contract sharpish. I'd be well pissed of if Neil went to Stoke.

It's a funny world I was going to post today in regards to how we were a few quality players from possibly having a fantastic season, Finally having a brilliant manager in place, A real feel good factor around the club again and then this goes and happens, Something must be badly wrong behind the scenes, not being in charge of transfers maybe? it's just Sunderland all over this

I can't think of any reason apart from money, he's done an excellent job but talking to Stoke this close to matchday and potentially leaving us today is poor form.
I suppose Dyche would be favourite if Neil goes?

Possibly a very clever time to take over, what with MO'N having already done all the heavy lifting - finally cleared out the ageing, overpaid wasters who got them relegated, and replaced them with a much younger squad with some promising players, and all with no transfer kitty. (Actually had to raise money by the sale of Collins) Better still, if Stoke arent finally out of FFP trouble this season, then they certainly should be by next season. Reminiscent of the story up the road in Derby, where Nigel Clough did a similar rebuilding job for them, before Schteeve the Schnake McClaren schneaked in in his place. McClaren went on to gain his best ever win rate in English football. Before they sacked him.

Stoke have started poorly and have been a bog standard mid table team the last couple of seasons. They were going nowhere under O’Neill who to be fair did inherit a squad that needed a big overhaul. Neil has a successful track record in this division and is likely to improve them. Hard to know everything that was going on at Sunderland but this is bad news for them certainly.

A lot of speculation that Neil was rebuked re certain players he wanted in. Very telling that Neil insisted on having a rolling contract.

I don't think Dyche fits the Speakman model sadly.
