He's been good for Newcastle whenever he's played. He actually had a really good 1st half of the season last year before Benitez inexplicably stopped playing him entirely. He does have a tendency to go cold on players for no obvious reason though I suppose, same thing happened to Elliot.

Both got injured. But I'll agree whenever Clark was called upon he done well. Newcastle are close to signing Stanley N'Soki which will push him further down the pecking order so a move would be best option for him.

For some reason I thought he was younger than 29. No point in moving to Palace if he's going to be in a similar situation. Time is not on his side so needs to be playing regularly wherever he goes.

Newcastle based journalist saying on Twitter that Ciaran Clark is likely to start against Man United tomorrow.
If that’s the case he needs to be straight into the squad. Our most experienced option after Duffy. Kevin Long was an unused sub today.

Newcastle must be reverting back to a back 5 tomorrow, a few of their players were vocal about Bruce going with a back 4 against Leicester. |

Started win vs Man Utd yesterday, played extremely well. Solid 8/10 showing. Should be in our squad as looks as now he's back in action Bruce will give him a lot of PL mins between now and end of season (hopefully Euros), qualifiers between then at least

Clark was brilliant yesterday. To be fair, Man United are atrocious but I’ve always thought he has done well for Newcastle. I can’t understand how he hasn’t got more game time but Lejeune is edging back towards full fitness and Dummet can play in the back 3 as well if Bruce persists. Clark won’t start when everyone is fit but he deserves to keep his place after yesterday. He definitely deserves more games than he’s been getting whether that’s from the start or off the bench.

He wasn't playing for his club when the squad was announced and he played very little football last season too. I'm not sure what difference it is though either - arguing over a 4th choice center half. Even if he was in the squad, you'd move into another player demanding that player be called up. |

Agree - he seems to have turned it around for himself. If he continues to get regular starts in the premier league it will be good for ireland

Fair play to Bruce for giving him a chance. Doubt it would've happened if Benitez stayed.
Perfect timing to get him back in the squad given the loss of Richard Keogh. We're very well covered centre back wise anyway. |
