I've been to a talk in tonight featuring Niall and Michael Gray in Sunderland for prostate cancer and it was a cracking night.
The Quinner was telling all the old stories about the Jack Charlton days and generally in good form.
One of his best stories was was when he and Bould were left out of a League Cup game. Reid didn't tell them until they arrived for the coach down to London. Both were happy to be rested, but immediately saw an opportunity to be let off the leash as their wives thought they were away for a couple of nights. They went out on the drink in Durham with Norman Whiteside who happened to be at the club doing his podiatry on the academy players. Bould, Whiteside and Quinn went for a few beers but took a couple of academy lads with them to drive them back. The story goes that Whiteside was giving it all that about football and Kevin Kyle pipes up asking if he'd every played the game himself....the retort was along the lines of "Son, do you know who was the 2nd youngest ever player to play in a World Cup? That was some black fella call Pele....I was the youngest"
He won't be in France for the Euros he is in New York on family business, Edited by Double Maxim - 20 Feb 2016 at 7:35am |

Sunderland legend Niall Quinn is not in the frame for the vacant chief executive position, despite being linked with a shock return to the Stadium of Light. (Sunderland Echo) |

I believe that Irish football is missing a real big opportunity.
Niall has proven he can reach out to fans and understand what they require, what they need and been willing to listen. Additional proven he is not a money grabber. It would be great to see him involved in Football at a high level. |

Get the **** off the tv, I'd rather hear Brendan O'Carroll analyse Ireland. Himself and Dean 'the personality' Saunders last night was unbearable.
