I thought the same. I was amazed that they went out and signed him as a replacement for Henderson who was very solid for them.

Their recruitment process has been bizarre. They brought in Jack Rodwell and Ravel Morrison and that went about as well as you'd reasonably expect it to. They spent big money on Lys Mousset who had 3 goals in 58 games for Bournemouth, and likewise spent a large sum on Oli McBurnie who's a decent Championship level player at best. Phil Jagielka is a waste of a squad place at his age. Jayden Bogle hasn't made a squad. They're even struggling to get a tune out of Rhian Brewster. Even from an Irish perspective, Callum Robinson was always on a hiding to nothing going there as he didn't fit into their system at all. Edited by Hotlips_Hoolahan - 18 Dec 2020 at 11:44pm |

I think I'm pretty positive. A lot of people have green tinted specs when it comes to Irish players and I would've thought I'm as guilty of that as anyone. I was watching on Premier Sports and Damien Delaney called him out on both those goals as well FWIW.

Egan was terrible for the first two United goals, especially the second one. I don't think McGoldrick knew much about his second goal, but you'll take them any way you can get them; he's already doubled his tally from last season. [/QUOTEyou are possibly the most negative poster on this forum. He was no where near terrible for any of those goals.

Don’t see remotely how Egan was that bad for any goal last night the first was a great finish by Rashford nothing he could do and the 2nd maybe was a touch high. It was a moment of magic by Pogba and think there was nothing any defender could have done.
The 3rd goal he was left frightenly isolated too.

Egan has struggled a lot more than last season, I think he's missed having O'Connell beside him. They've been far inferior to last year everywhere on the pitch unfortunately except for Berge and Mcgoldrick actually scoring some goals! If they keep losing every match and shipping goals its hard to see him getting another Premier league move.

Egan played well last night, little more he could have done with Ramsdale so terrible behind him. Stevens was okay but definitely isn't as much as an attacking force now that Sheffield United find themselves pushed back the pitch more often than not. McGoldrick was the best player on the field, it's a pity he has retired for us.

Sheffield United's collapse this season after doing so well last term has been shocking. To my memory in modern history only comparable with Reading, who finished 8th after being promoted with a record points haul and then went on to be relegated the following season, and Ipswich, who finished 5th and were then relegated the subsequent season. But that was way back in the 2000s.
You would think Egan would be well capable of securing a PL move when the inevitable happens. Decent player.

Ramsdale is a brutal keeper too so they will always be shipping plenty of goals.

They would be a whole lot worse without Egan. O’Connell is injured and he’s very good too but with him out Egan is comfortably SHUs best player Berge the other one you could remotely argue is better. Ampadu and Brewster promising too.
Outside of that it is largely a team of high level championship footballers at best in raw ability.

He did look ok but it's worth remembering that they still shipped 3 goals and this is the worst team in prem history so far

Very good tonight again. Steven's was ok about 6 out of 10 performance. Mcgoldrick was very good as well and scored 2 goals, it is a pity he retired, definitely has something still to offer.

Sheffield United are definitely going down. Hard to know if another Premier League team would go for him, perhaps a newly promoted team. I cant think of a Premier League team that he would get in. Maybe a Palace if Cahill retires.

It would be good to see Egan stay in the Premier League - he's a Premier League standard player. Stevens was great last season but from what I've seen of him this season for club and country he'll go down with Sheffield United. Unfortunately there is no real competition for his position at international level at all and nobody obvious coming through at left back, which is a big issue for us.

Everton were interested in signing Egan before he opted for the new contract he was offered at Sheffield Utd. I think Stevens is tied down too but if the club does go down I think Egan may well be poached by a Premiership team.
