Doubt it, Austin and Ings are made of glass, and Long provides cover as well as a differerent sort of threat to Hughes's other forwards.

Long has also been linked to West Brom whose fans would seemingly love to see him return.

I know it is deemed heretic on here, but there aren't many he would start for.

What Championship teams would you say he definitely wouldn't start for?

He's scored 39 goals in 123 Championship appearances.

If you're going to be endlessly negative about absolutely everything then at least attempt to back it up rather than skirting around it with vacuous remarks. So I'll ask again, which Championship teams would you definitively say he wouldn't start for?

And the last one was when? 2011?

Come on man! I know you think every Irish player is far better than he is and beyond reproach and you think anyone who criticises any of these lads is a meanie, but take off the green-tinted glasses.
Every serious promotion candidate from that league has a better striker than him, many of them with better ratios than Shane's one you mentioned from years ago.
It is difficult to see where he goes from here, it really is. His agent is doing Trojan work keeping his name relevant.

We managed without him last time. Hopefully Burke or Robinson can seize the opportunity that one of them will likely be given.

neither are out and out front men or will be able to hold the ball up. Not sure how fit walters is but i presume hes starting upfront now if Long isnt fit.

Yeah we'd have to try and play football with Robinson or Burke up top I suppose. One or the other could end up at number 10 behind Walters which might work.
