We really are knackered for strikers now. New campaign Walters, Murphy and possibly Long gone.
Long isn't possibly gone. You just made that up.

made what up...I just said he may retire and concentrate upon club football. Very likely that's what will happen.

It's not very likely that will happen. That's why it has most of us scratching our heads, just the same as it did the last time posters were trying to retire him at 30.It's more likely he'll retire this time 4 years when we've failed to qualify for Qatar or after those finals if we do, as he'll only be the same age Daryl Murphy is now.

What you’ve done Mr Wick is take your own personal opinion and portray it as a ‘likely’ fact. If you had have said that in your view or its your opinion that he may retire from International football then you would have received a different response.

How many games has he gone now without a goal? must be close to 60 if not more.

So he kept me soul for ransom.

Hardly imagine finding a new club is going to improve his position, I mean no team in the premiership could possibly have shown as much faith and perseverance with a striker posing not offensive threat as Southampton have with Long.
The contrast between him and Austin who is always sniffing for a goal is jarring.
He's not going to chuck it in any time soon with Ireland anyway as he knows how little competition there is for his place in the team, with Murphy probably on his last legs now at that level.

Last scored in Feb....
I think it's 1 goal in 60 games.

He's not scoring, but that doesn't mean he hasn't been playing well.

I think that's generous enough. While goals are not the only thing a forward is there to do, I think you'd find it tough to find anyone (including the man himself) who would argue he's 'playing well'.

He was on the bench mid-week vs. Leicester I think, so either he's had a recurrence or just been dropped.

Could've done with a much needed goal today and still the defender got to the lay off when they were wide open.

He's not good enough for the EPL, I'm sorry to say.

Starting regularly up front for a
Championship team is his level at best.
Wings? They're only the band The Beatles could have been.
