Yeah 1-0 @ half time. Good finish by Wellington. McGeady in the game in flashes, 2 or 3 defenders around him every time he gets the ball!!!

Took McGeady off, then free kick was headed in, full time. McGeady played well. They seem to think he is the balls over there always trying to get the ball to him and the opposition always have two or 3 men marking him

Yeah they were forever giving him the ball and there was alot marking him throughout the game. Thought he played alright in the second half and his run were he must have beaten about 6 players wasn't too bad. Shocking goal to give away at the death though!!!

Shocking defending by spartak! Mcgeady had a decent game seems he's finally learning when to release the ball and when to take a player on!

Sounds like he played well. Hopefully he has a good performance next week and his confidence grows in a green jersey.

Pity they won't make the CL in 2011/2012, but that's a good bit away yet. He is turning into the main man over there, and the different style of football will stand to him. They're still in with a good chance of qualifying for the knockouts of the CL (if they beat Marseille at home they're in), or at worst they're in the EL. Either way, it's more exposure to continental knock out football, which will benefit him and us.
Obviously it would be better for Aiden to be playing in the CL the following season, but there is no saying he'll still be with Spartak come Sept 2011.

What do you lads think of the Russian League, some decent teams in there.
Games seem to be played at a high level! |

The league is as high a standard outside of the top 4 leagues (Eng, Ger, Spa, Ita) as anything else, it's possibly a bit below france or portugal, but the difference is marginal enough I think. The problem though is the season being out of sync (for obvious enough reasons) and the distance is a deterrent to some better players to relocate there instead of say Ligue 1.
Another issue is corruption which has been touched upon on other forums.
Just from Spartak alone, Ibson, Wellington and Alex are all decent, while at other clubs you have the likes of Ignashevich, the Berezutsky twins, Zenit have assembled a really topquality squad.
