Fair play, the best team always wins the league and congrats.

But lets not pretend that you were anything other than a one-man outfit. It's a weakness of the LOI perhaps that one single player can have such a disproportionate influence.

I'm not denying Maguire was integral to the title success, but there was a lot more to it than just him. We lost our club captain in July, who is also one of the best players at the club. We also lost a key left back, who had a great understanding with the wingers and had a brilliant delivery from set pieces. We scored from a good few free kicks and corners when O'Connor was here, since he's left, I don't think we've scored from one set piece; a glaring example is away to Limerick when we had 17 corners, I'd say 15 of them went into the keepers hands. And as for Maguire, it's not just the goals that went, he was an integral part of City's attacking play; it wasn't just a case of give the ball to Maguire and see what he does. Dooley and Sheppard haven't been playing as well since he left, while Garry Buckley in particular has been very poor since Maguire went. Even then, a lot of the struggles over the past few weeks have been down to City failing to secure a deal for a striker e.g. the Stokes deal collapsing. For example, against Bohs last Friday, there was one play in the second half when a ball was hit across to Sadlier who in turn put it in across the 6 yard box; no one was there to turn it in, and Sheppard was was too late in making the run. I'm not saying we can easily replace Maguire, I'm saying had we signed a decent striker (Sheppard is a winger, the Keohane-false 9 experiment didn't work, Ellis is still very raw, and while Campion is good for bringing on when needing to grab a goal or seeing out a match, he can't lead the line), we would have wrapped the title up ages ago, and there would be none of this "worst champions ever" sh*te.

To summarise: take the key players out of any side, and they will struggle.

the problem you've got is there is no way to replace Maguire.....unless ye strike it lucky again, any forward that is as good as him ....you or any LOI club can't afford

I think the club took a gamble on not spending money as the league was guaranteed. That said, the constitution of the club has strict rules on spending money.

I'm actually disappointed that we didn't start throwing golf balls like the mutants.

Bad management from Spock, geebagging about the press all last week was surely a massive turn off for Shep.

Some lovely signings.

These guys are on 52 week contracts yeah? Do they start as soon as they sign? 'm guessing the likes of Rowling/Horgan wouldn't have been paid through the winter by Sligo/Galway would they?
