Commuting from Laois three times a week after taking its toll. He took a new job as Games Development Officer for Laois GAA during the season and the commitment that goes with that is just too much for him.

Gutted.
He still found plenty of time for all the radio programmes he turned up on....

Well he couldn't combine all three. Expect he will still be doing his radio appearances

Doherty to City. Absolutely glorious.

Ramblers are in big big trouble. All last seasons great work gone to pot.

Cork getting relegated was terrible for Ramblers, they were always likely to try and take players off them.

Well Waweru was out of their hands as he was only ever on loan.

Can't believe clubs are still allowed to go astro. Honestly think it's ridiculous at that level.
They finally did it man... They killed my f**kin' car...

Makes a lot of sense from cash flow, you can rent Astro 24/7 and it's a stream of income. Also custe down on renting trainig facilities.

Until the FAI outlaw it, I can't believe more clubs don't do it

Astros everywhere now though. Are many organisations going to really be renting the pitch? Doubt dundalk and Derry are renting theirs that much

This in a nutshell.

Training fees are the clubs biggest expense throughout the season. It will save them tens of thousands a year.

I don't see an issue with astro as long as it's properly done. Used to train on a 4G down in UL and it was an unreal surface. You just hope they don't cut costs with it and end up with a surface like the Brandywell or Oriel.

Most clubs here & in Scotland are moving (or trying) away from them so it’s kinda mad seeing a side dig up a grass pitch for one.
I’d hope PD licensing in a few years includes a proviso for a grass pitch.

No costs being cut. It will be the same surface as the one already in town which is immaculate

really poor decision from a football POV to change to pitch to astro. understand why cobh would want to do it to save money on renting pitches etc. a bit shortsighted imo.
