Maybe the billionaires that follow the sport in Ireland like Denis O'brien could do it? The FAI will be burdened by debt for at least 50 years assuming they don't fold too. When the next recession hits I can see half the clubs around the country ending up like Limerick. Bad times ahead.

I am no fan of the FAI and they certainly don’t care about the league, but they aren’t responsible for Limerick going to the wall. Nor were they responsible for any of the others. You can say their neglect is a factor, sure, but the buck stops at the clubs themselves.

If the FAI was giving a much bigger share of their revenue like the IRFU and GAA do to their top teams everybody would be far better off.

As a Limerick fan, my only gripe with the FAI is how the f**k we were given a licence last season? The fleas on the dogs in the street knew the club was bolloxed, Revenue had issued papers to wind us up and Pat was refusing offers from third parties to take over the club.

Such a shame, completely devalues the league having that, given they can't get promoted, Wexford, Athlone and Cabo won't be competitive, leaves 6 teams vying for 6 spots

The GAA put 85% of their income back into clubs. The FAI squander theres.

But they are completely incomparable! There is no question the FAI runs the game badly in Ireland and has ignored the game, but this is Limerick’s fault. The FAI haven’t helped, but they are only partly to blame.

No, the clubs here would just squander even more money in that situation

Jesus if ever something needed a shot in the arm, it's the structure that exists below the Premier Division. The first division is the absolute pits.
There is such a disconnect in Irish football. No pyramid system as such. Too many areas without representation nationally. It's mad. Don't know how it can be fixed.

The Munster Senior league has no teams from outside Cork. The majority of them from being in and around the city. Limerick's junior league teams are in reality senior teams.

675k loss for Dundalk in 2018. Certainly can't blame the FAI for that one.

The playoffs are being extended next season to 5th place, so it will be 2nd vs 5th and 3rd vs 4th across two legs to qualify for the playoff final.

And that's why I'm partly blaming them. Look at the GAA. You have counties like Galway and Mayo being run as badly as the likes of Limerick but they'll never go bust because they have the GAA to back them up. They'll force change in the running of the counties and straighten things up in return for financial help. We've seen that happen recently with counties like meath and Kildare.
