Powerful story but felt it was grossly overrated.

Not sure what all the fuss was about at the time (talking purely as a piece of work).
Yeah, thought it was average myself. I'm also not a huge fan of film and literature distorting historical truth.

Especially when the truth is interesting enough as it is!

With buying a gaff I haven't had a chance to spend the day at the cinema any more.
Want to see Ready Player one, Isle of dogs, that new Irish film Michael Inside is supposed to be decent, a quiet place.
The dark side.. And the light

This looks very intriguing and not just because of Emily Blunt

A Quiet Place

Went to see it in Tallaght last night, the only problem being the cinema is full of the least quiet people imaginable. Little knackers talking and on their phones non stop, it's a f**king pain in the arse with that cinema.

On the film itself, I thoroughly enjoyed it. There's less than 50 words spoken throughout the whole thing and it's tense as f**k start to finish, some good scares too 9/10

Watched "Legend" on tv Saturday night, the Kray twins one with Tom Hardy playing both roles

Thought it was very good, he played both brilliantly

Emily Browning's sweet

Went to see Isle of Dogs last night and really enjoyed it. As you would expect it to be it is completely off the wall but you would want a heart of stone not to spend the film smiling. I thought he managed the cultural sensitivities very well and highlighted, deliberately, our inability in the west to grasp Japanese culture while being fascinated by it and vice-versa.
He really does make us look at things with a childlike wonder, to do that without ever feeling patronised or condescended to is a remarkable talent.

This might be an Irish thing? I thought I hated the cinema after several such experiences at home and a couple of different parts of the country too( Cork, Dublin, Galway) that I stopped going for a very long time until the last eighteen months or so over here, where the worst behaviour was forced laughter for the first fifteen minutes of 'Death of Stalin' after which someone clearly had a word with the culprit.

I think it's more of a toe rag thing to be honest. Why do people go to the cinema to be on their phones all the time or talk? Cinemas should be much harder on them and f**k them out without a refund.

Correct. Housemate went to a Cinema in Streatham recently ( Rough enough area ) and had to leave and ask for a refund. Feral kids going mental in the place

I'll stick to my art-house gaff that's full of Guardian readers discussing the upcoming Ingmar Bergman season well slurping kohlrabi and caraway soup and sipping locally crafted ale then!
