OK look, hear me out.
Just turned 31 so very much in his prime as a defender, well established at championship level with more than a few seasons under his belt. Plays in a back three in much the same way Kenny sets ireland up. Links up well with Brady on the left and has now gone 7 games without conceding a goal in the championship in what looks like a record? I appreciate we're good in the CB area but credit where credit is due he might deserve a place in the squad.

He's not in his prime, he's been in a precipitous decline for a couple of yesrs. His pace has completely evaporated (hence the move to centre back from full back/wing back), and even so he's only playing the last few games due to injury to Andrew Hughes. Cunningham could have been a good player but injuries pretty much ruined him unfortunately.

I cant see any source for it, but I'm almost certain Kenny said in presser or interview at some stage since he took over that Cunningham wanted to focus on his club career due to injuries.
