My local (Willows in Dundrum) told their staff hey'd bé closing for a week for a re-wire last September, staff thought thay was optimistic and they'd be out of work for the a few weeks.
Six months later and still not open, fairly annoying. Rumours it was bought by the people who own the Blue Light, another rumour they can't pay their bills.

That is supposed to reopen this year too: https://www.echo.ie/developers-planning-to-open-the-cuckoos-nest-within-12-months/ They have a website and facebook page and are posting updates saying it will come within the year. That said, I haven't seen much taking off yet on the site itself. Doubtful they will make 2024.

Cocos was a great spot back in the day There was similar uproar when they tried to change the planning for the old Cuckoos nest into a cafe, the residents were trying to say the bought the new gafs there on the back of the pub reopening

Considering the location would it not have made sense to build a pub on the bottom floor and apartments above. Didn't the Big Tree do that with a restaurant pub for the bottom floor or is that all apartments too?

Did you ever venture to The Inn on the Liffey? I was at a Paddys Day rave there about 15 years ago. It was a rough and ready gay bar and sauna at the time, I'm not even sure if the pub part exists any more. The place was hopping from 7am to God knows when. You would want to have a fairly liberal attitude for some of the shenanigans but aside from the odd burly fella sticking a bottle of poppers up my nose then there was no bother and we had a great day.

I used to go to the White Horse quite a bit. A mad shop is putting it mild. The worst thing about those places is when you are leaving and it suddenly hits you that it is only lunch time, you are steaming, and even the staff in Charlie's Chinese think you are a disgrace!
