Prince Abdullah and Enda Stevens: Sheffield United winners and losers as Slavisa Jokanovic lands

The Blades defenders: Jokanovic has generally preferred to play a 4-3-3 during his time in England, despite inheriting a Watford side that had played with three at the back.

If he looks to do the same at Bramall Lane, it cuts the number of defenders in the starting lineup down from five to four – and could render their specialist wing-backs like Enda Stevens redundant unless they are able to re-adapt to playing in a flat back four on a regular basis.

If Jokanovic wants to find room in his squad for more out-and-out wingers, a few of those in the back line would be the most obvious players to move on.

Very comfortable position for Cardiff, Joel Bagan is one of them, Greg Cunningham had to move to Preston to get a game.

Joe Bennett might be leaving this summer and Joel Bagan was a stopgap. Cardiff is definitely a potential destination if Stevens does end up leaving, unlikely though that is ATM.

Going forward he's not been as good for ireland as he has been the Sheffield United but I can't remember him doing much wrong defensively. Thought he's been pretty solid.

Yeah, we're not exactly flushed with players that can play left back, I think Manning is another option that might not see much game time.

I wonder if oshea can do a job there, pretty sure he's played across the whole back line at some point.

O'Shea can play LB but we'll probably be playing with a back 3 and need a LWB to replace Stevens.

With Stevens out and Manning only just back from injury / yet to play himself, I'd say its likely McClean will still start despite lack of playing time for his club. He keeps himself in great shape fitness wise so Id have no worries on that side of things, its just his match sharpness id be worried about. Hes a fairly limited baller as is.

..unless Doherty is thrown in there again. Done an OK job under Mick there when needed.

That's a good shout, Coleman on the right and Doherty on the left.

Doherty did a good job when he played CB, pretty sure he can be versatile enough to play left back

manning plus 4 others missed first game due to Covid Issues but played the last half hour in caraboo cup game.
One City,One County,One Club GUFC will be back.
