I think the acting was as much of a hindrance as the writing. Orlaith aside, none of those playing the group of girls could act and will probably never be seen again.
I agree. It was funny in parts but the acting left a lot to be desired. Stopped watching after 3 episodes but was made watch the last few which tbf picked up in quality. Alright show but getting far too many plaudits

And another thing I'm wondering about "the wee English fella"; The story is that his mum went to Enlgand to have an abortion, but didn't go through with it and gave birth to James instead.  So that means James' dad is still in Derry?

His da was in the Brit army. You can tell by how intelligent James is. Your one probably went to live a semi-secret life back in Bolton with soldier boy.

Derry Girls has has become the most-watched TV series ever in Northern Ireland, since modern records began in 2002.

The comedy, set in the 1990s during The Troubles, has received rave reviews. The series had an average of 519,000 viewers – a 64.2% share of the audience. It reached 54% of the Northern Irish TV audience, including 65% of 16-34 year old viewers.

Across the UK, consolidated viewing figures show that the first series was watched by an average of 2.5 million viewers, making it Channel 4′s biggest comedy launch since 2004.

i saw him a few years back in london and it was excellent , maybe 6-7 years ago

Thats a genuine surprise. I remember seeing some bit he did before about how much water was in a packet of ham he bought.

I really enjoyed his footballing show he done for RTE a few years back only decent thing he done bar Father Ted
