Aldo phoning it in from his pub in Spain 5 minutes before the paper deadline. Blower in one hand jotting it down on the back of beer mat with the other.

That was an excellent save. Sign of a top keeper to basically have nothing to do for the whole game and then make a decent stop like that near the end. VVD certainly appreciated it.

One of the most famous college teams in America is called Notre Dame Fighting Irish and their logo is literally a leprechaun squaring up to fight. I have never seen anyone kick up a stink about it. As I said, it's weird what stereotypes they pick and choose to get offended by.

Weren’t you the one who got offended when Ian Wright mocked Roy Keane’s accent?

We're going down the road of banning all caricatures, personally I've seen many an Irish stereotypes characture especially in the US and I dont see the big deal. Is a leprechaun offensive? I don't even know if I'm supposed to be offended anymore

To be fair I think he was making a comparison regarding the hypocrisy of mocking an Irish accent which seems acceptable compared to mocking, say an Indian accent.

Yes. He belittled someone because of their accent, which is something they have no control over, in front of millions of people. I'd have no problems if someone referred to Irish temperament. My problem is more the rank hypocrisy over what people in America choose to get offended by. The same expression Beglin referred to is constantly used to describe Irish people and I have never heard anyone complain about it. |

More on topic, I find it really refreshing that we are discussing which of our exceptionally promising goalkeepers should get the nod.
Hopefully we'll be in a position to disagree in further positions due to the talent coming through. Central defence seems the likely next position. We have three CB positions and Duffy, Egan, Omobamidele, Collins and O'Shea all looking good.

An Irish article with no quotes from Americans and nothing from the American perspective - which sums up how much of a non-issue it is over there. They, frankly, do not give a sh*t about peddling offensive Irish stereotypes. One of the biggest newspapers over there literally referred to a group of Irish students who died after collapsing from a balcony, which shouldn't have passed safety inspections, as "drunks". It's something to watch from afar. Everyone tripping over themselves to get offended on behalf of every different group of people, but you'll have to prise their Irish jibes from their cold dead hands. Full back is a relatively concerning area. Coleman's 33, Stevens is 31, Doherty is 29 and never got going at Spurs, Scales is unproven, Manning's not great defensively, Christie is Christie. O'Shea or Collins may play FB at points in the future like Dara's namesake. Edited by Hotlips_Hoolahan - 18 Oct 2021 at 11:52am |

It's not one of the T&C to declare our club allegiances (should we have them) as soon as we register on an international team's forum such as this. That point has been made before, if you still can't understand it, you can't be helped.
That's his latest, and with a 95% pass accuracy rate. 180 minutes this week and 2 clean sheets. All he can do is keep clean sheets and play to the best of his ability, which he does. If that's still not good enough to earn recognition, it's not his fault. Terrible pity for us this campaign that he has been ignored, simply because he was injured when Luxembourg showed up. At least Watford are a step or two up from Rotherham where our undisputed No. 1 (who dare not be questioned let alone replaced) found himself at the weekend. 4 goals found their way past him, one coming from a severe dose of the butterfingers. Not really one of the benefits of getting to play every week. |

Can you not credit one of our young keepers without having a dig at the other? You seem to have an unhealthy and frankly, weird obsession putting down Bazunu for some reason..

No Alisson is available having stayed in Spain to see out his quarantine. Caoimhin will play in the Carabao next week. |

With Liverpool certain to qualify for the second round, it now opens up the possibility of a game or two for him at the end of the group stage.
