Yes, but it takes them from sixth in the world down to 16th. A shame as it would have been nice to see another Irish team in a final and while a medal was extremely unlikely, you just never know with relays.

I like the new approach, they just throw them the medal there and then. "Here's your gold medal, now f**k off into the mixed zone, the 400 hurdles is starting". They are having separate formal presentations of medals outside the stadium though. We haven't really seen them as there hasn't been any reason to from an Irish perspective sadly. Have France or Germany won a medal yet? 150 million people and not a medal between them the last time I checked. Athletics is hard.
