Federer back to No.1 in the world.
No article in the Independent Sports section today about it, just the score in the results section.

Yet rugby gets over 4 pages in the sports section.
Is rugby really that popular?

No.

A lot of journos are former rugby schoolboys, maybe? I don't know for sure if that's the case at the Indo.

Even the BBC didn’t mention it until after the event.
Every tennis fan had been talking about it all week.

He is on course to win 100 single atp tournaments this year.
I believe he is on 96 so far.

Could he win No.100 at Wimbledon?

Nadal has just destroyed everybody at Monte Carlo.
Wins his 11th final without dropping a set.

A 11th French Open looks certain unless he gets injured.

Fed back to No.1 in the world next Monday after Nadal lost to Thiem In Madrid.
Didn’t expect Nadal to do as well as he has in the clay season so far, considering his injuries in the 6 months before the clay season started.

I think Nadal can get it back if he wins in Rome next week.

I can’t see anybody beating him in the French - there is just nobody good enough to beat him over best of 5 sets.

Theim is the most likely but he is not ready yet.

Nadal back to No1 again after winning the Italian Open.

Like last year he has won 3 out of the 4 clay court tournaments before the French. And once again only Thiem beat him.

French Open starts on Sunday. Nadal is something like 3/2 to win. Unless he gets injured he will win his 11th FO without too much fuss. There is just nobody to challenge him.

I’m going on Tues so looking forward to it.

Rafa Nadal’s OCD, fooks sake, just saw him line up his two water bottles before he went back on court.

Thanks, thought I’d just cut out the waffle and get to the point.

( I really just put a golf question in the tennis thread, quickly got rid of it before some enlightened body let me know).

Anyway back to tennis -

Nadal has a kind draw. He should get to the 1/2 final with no problems. Likely to face Del Potro then.

In the bottom half you have Djokovic, Thiem, Nishi and Zverev who are all the 2-5 favs.

The women’s is wide open. About 4/5 women could win it.
