Ireland should thank his lucky stars he didn't play in the Crazy Gang squad of the late 80s.

Bullied my hole, fook off.

There is a big difference between a bit of banter and bullying though, Stephen Ireland was no more than a pup when he decided he had enough of the taunts.

No player, especially a youngster should be made feel unwanted in a team environment to the point where he packs it in.

Hunt is a grade A c**t, never liked him. He comes across as a small man who think's he is "Billy Big Balls"

Have you ever met him ?

Yeah in the players lounge a few years back.

He comes across as a knob on telly or whenever he writes an article, always whinging too I've noticed.

Have met him briefly a few times - Didn't come across that way at all.

Hardly Andy Reids fault that a manager held a vendetta against him for 5 years(2-3 of which were arguably the best of his career).

Rory could throw a ball from Malin Head to Mizen Head but was pretty limited as a player.

Shame about Stephen Ireland he was blossoming as a superb midfielder as a youngster.

A lot more than that happened.

It's been discussed before, although I'm not sure it what was alleged was published on the forum.

Oooh, the Andy Reid and Steven Ireland debates rehashed all in one thread. Yippee.

I think we've all had enough of both these stories at this stage (we're talking almost ten years ago in both cases) and it does no-one any favours arguing the same tired points over and over again.

What did you expect him to say when asked about bullying?

I would be slow enough to be as forthright in my criticism as it was well known he had a lot of mental health issues at the time, Eriksson got the best out of him by getting him to go to a psychiatrist regularly. I am sure ,with the benefit of hindsight, Ireland would do a lot of things differently himself but he was a young lad with problems and a media profile and he handled it badly.
