People generally prefer if it doesnt offend a section of society! Otherwise your point is valid.

And context doesnt really matter here (or with Celtic Symphony) - if large numbers of Northern Nationalists believe the song to be offensive (and they do), then why on earth do Irish fans choose to sing it.

Do they? Have you got a poll or something? Context totally matters here. Especially as this song was being sung by rugby fans a couple of years back.

And I never suggested you suggested that they should sing CS.

And that's the main thing with Zombie. Mightn't be a good song but it's easy to sing along to which makes it easier for everyone to get behind. The atmosphere at the Toulouse game which all this started at was excellent.

Dreams is a much better song but only works after the match and the amount of people mumbling their way through the song around me after the last All Ireland shows why other sports have used Zombie instead.

I daresay most of the  ones who have issues with zombie were still in their da’s ball sack during the troubles and  have no concrot whatsoever that singing up the  ra may hurt its victims and ultimately doing nothing to advance a united ireland to soft unionists

Let the people sing their songs.

Just not any songs that could be slightly critical of the armed struggle.

What's the correlation between the Ireland rugby team and the armed struggle?

Up the Ra can Hurt the victims, zombie could hurt the victims.

Who gives a bollix they're both catchy Irish songs that go down a treat at sporting events.

None.  The same as there is none between the Irish women’s team or the Leinster rugby team.

I am from Derry and Republican minded. Zombie is a great song and the Cranberries were a good band. The song was written at a time when the IRA campaign was beginning to really wane and events like Warrington were destroying IRA support. There is context.
Walters coming back from an offside position but Shane Long was definitely onside- Shane Lonnggggggg.... has done it!!!!

None.  The same as there is none between the Irish women’s team or the Leinster rugby team.

And which is why the Zombie is not really appropriate.
