Just noticed that one of AIK's assistant coaches is an Irishman, Sean O'Shea.

There was a good article on him in the Journal a year or two ago when Shamrock Rovers played AIK.

My mistake, was when they faced Celtic the following year.

Hopefully the Swedish league suits him better, no idea what the standard there is like but he seemed to find the going tough in League 2.

Made his AIK debut this evening, came on in 85th min. Think he might have had a part in the 2nd goal in injury time.

Brilliant to see him get on the pitch. Hopefully he gets the bit between his teeth and gets a place in the team.

You asked if I'd be anyone from history, fact or fiction, dead or alive:
I said "I'd be Tony Cascarino, circa 1995"

Came on again today in 57th min as they drew 1-1 with a team bottom of the table.

Watched last 15 mins he wasn't involved too much with most of their attacking play coming down the left and him being on the right.

His one chance came from a cross into the box from wide left where he arrived at the back post and managed to head it over from a yard out. Should have put it away.

Had the game on in the background there with f**k all else being on, he played alright. Got 86 mins.

Passing was sloppy at times and his end ball wasn't great. Done lots of running and got into good positions but just failed to do anything with it.

Much the story with the rest of the team though.

Starts his 2nd game today vs league leaders Djurgaarden, big local derby. They currently lead 1-0.

Game is being shown free on the Livescore app and can be Chromecast.

Starts again today. 3rd game in a row now. Looks to have cemented his place in the team having made 2 sub appearances in his first 2 games.

Team is doing well and in with a real shout of winning the league / getting back into Europe next season, they've won 3 drawn 1 since Elbouzedi has joined and are 6pts off top with their game in hand this evening.

To think, he was knocking about in League One/Two barely getting a game last season. More of players really need to explore leagues further abroad than the UK.

Happy for him after getting very little action the previous season.
Looks to be a rewarding move and fair play to him for stepping outside the usual path.

For some context, the Swedish league is ranked 23rd in Europe, below the likes of Cyprus (JackB) in 15th, Belgium (Cullen) in 9th and Holland (Johansson, but yet to play so dunno if he will be a regular...) in 7th.

The LOI is 37th.

I wish that Twente's interest in Mandroiu was genuine/followed up on. I'd like to see what he can do on a bigger stage. (puts on Cork accent) Not sure if he has the eye of the tiger though.

win tonight and they go level with Malmö - that’ll be the same Malmö from last week.

Not a bad part of the world to be a professional sportsman - I’d imagine the local eye candy would outdo Bolton or Lincoln.

Just gone 1-0 up there. On the downside though the fans seem to be somewhat frustrated by his performance is the last few games.

Old habits die hard...

I've watched every game hes played in and hes done fine, no worse or better than the rest of the team. They like to play it out from the back and build up play, work it wide and cross into the box. Rinse and repeat. Very slow and one dimensional and seem to lack a lot in the final third but they've been grinding out results.

Why would you put yourself through that?
